About ECROCK Pickleball Club

Our incredible journey began in 2021 with the vision to create the first organized Pickleball Club in Newfoundland and Labrador. Initially, we aimed to spark interest among 50 players at Northpoint Sports, but we surpassed that goal in just two weeks! Today, we’re thrilled to welcome over hundreds of enthusiastic and fun-loving members to our thriving club.

Our club offers structured Skills & Drill Clinics from the second week of September until late May. We also offer league play and drop-in sessions and events throughout the year.

We’re so grateful to have such a passionate and growing community, and we look forward to another amazing year of pickleball with all of you.

EC Rock Weekly Club Day + What to Expect in 2025!

We’re thrilled to welcome both returning and new members to our vibrant ECROCK community! Registration opens January 8th for new EC Rock members but space is limited. Registration opens at 8:00AM!

On Wednesday mornings we offer Wednesday Club Days (10:00–11:30 AM) on six official Pickleball courts at Northpoint, thanks to their fantastic upgrades last fall! These clinics do require a (free) pre-registration so we know who's planning to attend.

Here’s what’s new:

We’ve transitioned from Drop-In Clinics to a registration-based format where up to 32 members can secure spots for each session.
The old BLUE and RED Skill Levels have been retired. Instead, we’re offering Clinics for Recreational Players and Clinics for Competitive Players. For a breakdown of what defines a Recreational vs. Competitive player, check out the "News" section on our website.
Recreational and Competitive groups will play simultaneously each week, with designated sides of Northpoint: Side A (original courts) and Side B (new courts).

These Skills & Drills Clinics are FREE for Members, but registration is required in advance on our website.

Here’s What to Expect on Wednesdays:
You’ll be greeted by our friendly ECROCK Executive team and dedicated volunteers, many of whom are certified Pickleball Coaches. Look for our vibrant red ECROCK shirts! Make sure to check in with us to receive your name tag before we kick off at 10:00 AM sharp. Please arrive by 9:45 AM for warm-up and instructions.

Additional Updates:

New Parking: Additional spaces are now available on the opposite side of Northpoint Sports. Take the next driveway past Northpoint Sports (heading toward Avalon Mall) for 20 newly painted spots. A new entrance is opening soon; until then, if the door is locked, you’ll need to walk around the building.
Winter Gear Reminders: Wear proper court shoes with a good grip, consider safety goggles, and dress in layers to stay comfortable in the air-conditioned facility. Don’t forget a thermos of water!
Change Room Use: Please use the change rooms for outdoor footwear and belongings to keep the courts safe and organized.

We can’t wait to see you this winter as we continue to grow, learn, and enjoy this amazing sport together. Let’s make this season our best yet!

FACEBOOK: East Coast Rock Pickleball Club - Our Facebook Page is open to members only so please do not invite non-members to join. It's a place where you can find instant updates; reminders or if players are needed last minute. Also its a place to share relative pickleball information or add a little light hearted humor to our day!

Pickleheads App: https://www.pickleheads.com/ is an App you can download for free to any device and used by various groups to source out Ladder Games by location. This is the only place you can register for an ECROCK Members Ladder game or look for a sub.

Our Email: ecrockpcnl@gmail.com is where you can email us to ask questions. It's not monitored hourly but we are pretty diligent at getting back to you within 24 hours.

Wednesday Club Clinics prepared for Recreational Players vs. Competitive Players

When registering for a Wednesday Club Day Clinic, please only register where your skills are best suited based on the criteria below and only register in advance for only 1 Clinic and not both.

Clinics prepared for Recreational Players:
A Recreational Pickleball Player understands the fundamentals of the game and applies them effectively. They can handle various shot speeds and demonstrate good control with both forehand and backhand strokes. These players are comfortable moving to the net and using basic strategies, including dinking, to their advantage. They may still be refining their consistency and shot selection but have a solid grasp of court coverage and mobility. Recreational players are those who enjoy the sport at a more relaxed level.

Clinics prepared for Competitive Players:
A Competitive Pickleball Player actively seeks more challenging play, such as ladders or tournaments. They serve and return with depth and placement 80% of the time, maintain longer rallies, and use advanced techniques like dinking and drop-shots effectively. Their court coverage, quickness, and strategic play with a partner are well-developed, and they anticipate opponents’ shots. Competitive players are competent drilling partners and work to continually improve their skills and shot selection.
