How to sign up for a club session
- Sessions are open for registration at 5pm MT seven days prior to the session’s scheduled time.
- Sign up to play by selecting Attending.
- If the session is full, you can select Join Waitlist to be notified if there is an opening.
- If you can no longer make it to a session that you’ve signed up for, please make sure to go into the session and select Decline. This opens up the spot for another player to sign up or lets anyone on the waiting list to be automatically invited.
- If you’re on the waiting list for a session and receive a notification that a spot has opened up, you must respond by selecting Attending or Decline. If you decline then the next person on the waiting list will receive the invite.
- Note to Hosts: If a waitlist person hasn’t confirmed their attendance, you’re able to move to the next person on the waitlist.
- All communications pertaining to a specific session will be done within the Comments section of the session.
How to be a host
Anyone can be a host! We rely on club members to volunteer as hosts to run all of our sessions. Outdoor play takes place at Mt Nelson Athletic Park (a multi-use court) using our portable nets. Nets are stored in an on-site locked storage room. Indoor play takes place at the Invermere Curling Rink which is a private secured facility. As such, hosts are needed to open and close all sessions.
Hosting is quite simple and there are many helping hands to set up/tear down. Hosts can sign up in pairs and co-host sessions too.
We provide a mandatory host training session at the beginning of the season and on-demand throughout the year. Please reach out to Jennette if you're interested in being a host. All hosts will be added to the Host subgroup in Spond.
How to volunteer/sign up to host a session
- Sessions are open for registration at 5pm MT seven days prior to the session’s scheduled time.
- By default, the app assigns Angie as the host for all sessions (as the event creator) so assume that there is no host unless it's otherwise stated in the Comments section.
- Sign up to host by indicating in Comments that you will host.
- Co-Hosting is welcomed! Two people can partner to share the hosting responsibility for any session.
- An administrator will assign you as the host for the session (may take up to 24 hours). You’ll receive a request to host that you must respond by selecting Accept or Decline.
- Once you’re assigned as host, you’ll be able to easily send messages to the session’s attendees (e.g., moving from Mount Nelson to the curling rink if bad weather) and manage the waitlist.
- Attendees will also be able to easily direct message the host.
- Hosts are responsible for staying up to date with the comments and messages related to the session that they are hosting in the app.
- If you can no longer host, please find a replacement host and notify Jennette or Angie who the replacement host will be.
- Then go into the session and select Decline as host. This will allow us to reassign the host.
Host communications & subgroup
We’ve created a Host subgroup in Spond to make it easier for us to communicate with hosts, as well as for hosts to communicate with one another. We’ll use this to highlight which sessions may need a host. Hosts can also use this communication channel to find a replacement or backup host. Hosts can also use this to ask questions about hosting duties or anything that may come up while hosting.
