WELCOME
The Ituna Pickleball Club is a newly organized club in Ituna, Saskatchewan.
Though small in numbers, we are full of enthusiasm and are enjoying the exercise and social connections that our participation in Pickleball is providing. We are always increasing our membership and enjoying connecting with other players in the area.
All you need to play Pickleball is a paddle, a ball, runners or sneakers and a net. The game was developed so that all members of a family could participate so the rules were kept simple. While many seniors play, it is a game for all ages and one does not need to be athletically inclined to play. We welcome players of all abilities.
We have most recently installed permanent nets on our 2 courts. Our thanks to the Ituna and District Recreation Board and the Yorkton Kinsmen Club for funding to make this possible and as well our thanks to Ryan Bulych for drilling the holes for the permanent nets and to the Ituna Volunteer Fire Department for cleaning off the surface prior to painting. Our courts are open at all times and readily available to our community and visitors.
In 2022, following a grant from the Government of Canada New Horizons for Seniors Program we completed the surfacing of the two courts with Acrylotex, applied by Cord’s Park Mark Ltd., and fencing was done around the area by Fencing Around, Yorkton. In the spring of 2023 we have screened in 2 sides of fencing to protect the courts from wind during play. We hope to continue with the remaining sides as funds will allow.
Many thanks also to the Ituna Knights of Columbus, SK Lotteries, the Town of Ituna, RM of Bon Accord, and Prairie Co-op Ituna who have all been instrumental in the completion of our pickleball courts.
OUR HISTORY... it's short....
Our interest in Pickleball began in the spring of 2018. At that time we were given a grant by Parkland Valley Sports and Recreation to hold a Pickleball clinic. That summer a number interested individuals played on a once used tennis court behind the school.
Over the following two winters we obtained permission to play in the school gym twice a week. In the spring of 2020, thanks to a donation of paint from the Ituna location of the Prairie Co-op, we painted lines for 2 courts on an asphalt surface previously used for skateboarding, located on 1st Ave NW (behind the Post Office). It is here that we hope to continue outdoor play when we are able.
Interest in the sport grew and in October, 2020 we formed the Ituna Pickleball Club. When winter arrived we were given permission to rent Sacred Heart Parish Hall and play continued until late November when COVID restrictions no longer made that possible.
A grant from Sask Sport has enabled us to purchase additional equipment and allowed us to host a clinic. We are also grateful to the Town of Ituna and the RM of Ituna Bon Accord for considering us in the Safe Re-start Program.
We are truly grateful for all the help we have had in becoming an active club.

Ituna Pickleball Club Court Project
Updates to our Pickleball Courts have been completed and we couldn't be happier!
Chain link fencing has been installed by Fencing Around (Yorkton) and resurfacing of the courts with Acrylotex coating was completed in July by Cord's Park Mark. This surface is durable, skid resistant and will provide shock absorption and cushioning for joints.
The Ituna Pickleball Club uses the courts on Monday and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm during the summer season. If you are interested in learning to play, please join us!
The courts are open to the public for use. Please wear clean court shoes.
The $25,000 funding for this project came from the Government of Canada's New Horizons for Seniors Program . We are truly grateful for the support of this program.
Thanks also to the Ituna Fire Department for cleaning the surface of the court after fence installation and the Town of Ituna for their support.
Stay tuned for future progress updates!

Ituna Pickleball Beginners Clinic
The Ituna Pickleball Club held a Beginner's Clinic on July 20,2021. Trainers, David Weiman and Chanz Hutton, did an excellent job of going through the skills and rules of pickleball. Of the twelve participants, some were very new to the sport and some, who had been playing for awhile, were happy to have a good review and a brush up on skills.
Our thanks to David and Chanz and also to Parkland Valley Sports and Recreation for their sponsorship.
