Background
The Killaloe and Area Pickleball Club (KAPC) started in June 2023. In summer 2024, the ad hoc organizing committee elected to join Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario primarily to address gaps in insurance coverage. Membership includes insurance coverage for players and organizers plus access to other benefits including being able to play at other Pickleball Canada clubs (see https://pickleballcanada.org/membership/membership-benefits/). This includes insurance for sports accidents (if you suffer an injury), general liability (if you suffer damages) and directors and officers insurance (negligent acts). (See https://pickleballcanada.org/membership/insurance-program/ for further information). Pickleball Canada’s insurance program requires all participants to be members of Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario as well as their local club, in this case, KAPC. As a result, the ad hoc committee was re-structured to form a Board of Directors, a prerequisite for clubs to join Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario. Our fee structure was formalized including the addition of an Annual Membership Fee now including unlimited outdoor pickleball during spring, summer and fall (weather permitting). See Fee section for further details.
Registration
Effective September 13, 2024, all regular participants at Killaloe and Area Pickleball Club (KAPC) events are required to be a member of Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Ontario and KAPC by registering and paying an Annual Membership Fee.
If you are playing regularly in Killaloe, you will also need to join the KAPC annually. During registration, Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario also offer an option to select individual clubs to join. Joining KAPC each year is a prerequisite for club-level insurance coverage. KAPC members will also receive club updates and will be voting members to have your voice heard on the club events.
Visitors who are not Pickleball Canada or Pickleball Ontario members can play up to two times per calendar year. They must also sign a waiver and pay the drop-in fees (see below). After two drop-in sessions, they will need to join Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Ontario and KAPC.
Schedule
All Pickleball games are posted on playtimescheduler. Download the new app or go to https://playtimescheduler.com/... Select Renfrew County then look for games scheduled at the Killaloe Recreation Centre (previously called the Killaloe Rink) for outdoor pickleball or Killaloe Public School for indoor pickleball.
Fees
1) Annual Membership Fee (Includes Fees for Outdoor Pickleball)
A new fee structure has been adopted for 2026 to avoid confusion and streamline registration. The previous individual Annual KAPC Membership Fee and KAPC Outdoor Pickleball Fee have been combined into a new Annual Membership Fee which includes both membership and unlimited outdoorpickleball.
The new Annual Membership Fee will be a total of $40.00 (plus processing) and include all of the following:
- Membership in Pickleball Canada ($10),
- Membership in Pickleball Ontario ($10) and
- Membership in the KAPC ($20). This includes unlimited outdoor pickleball
All prices are in CAD $.
This is a slight reduction over the combined cost we paid in 2025.
A few quirks:
- Everyone who plays pickleball in Killaloe needs to pay these fees because of insurance, regardless of whether you play only indoor, only outdoor or both indoor and outdoor pickleball.
- If you became a member of Pickleball Canada/Pickleball Ontario after September 1, 2025, that membership will last until December 31, 2026. The only new fee you will owe for 2026 will be the $20.00 for KAPC.
2) Additional Fee for Playing Indoor Pickleball
Indoor Pickleball occurs during the late fall and winter at Killaloe Public School (KPS), starting November 3, 2025.
A pay as you go fee of $3 will continue to apply for indoor pickleball. We need to charge this fee to pay for the rental of the school gym.
A reminder: To play indoor pickleball, you must be a member of Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Ontario and have paid the KAPC fee.
3) Prices and Deadlines
Payment is made online through the Pickleball Canada or Pickleball Ontario websites.
Registration opens on November 15, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
