About ECROCK Pickleball Club

Our exciting journey began in 2021 with an idea to start the first organized Pickleball Club in NL with hopes to grow an interest with 50 or so players at Northpoint Sport's. We surpassed that number in 2 weeks, and today we are proud of our club's expansion to welcome over 400 enthusiastic youthful and fun loving members! Our club provides structured Skills & Drill Clinics starting the 2nd week of September up until late May. Your membership for 2024 will expire December 31, 2024 with lots of notice about your renewal well in advance of expiring. We'll take a brief Christmas break starting December 12th and return Jan. 8th, 2025. During our down time, Northpoint Sports will be open with 6 court rentals so be sure to check them out.

What's NEW this September and what Members can expect

ECROCK Members are invited to join us September 11th for our new roll out of Wednesday Club Days (10:00-11:30 am) now on 6 official Pickleball courts since Northpoint made some fantastic upgrades over the Summer! It's important to note that we have moved away from Drop-In Clinics to introduce a new format where 32 members can register to secure a spot and participate in our posted Clinics. We have also retired the BLUE and RED Skills Levels and transitioned to Clinics for Recreational Players and Clinics for Competitive (see the "News" section on our website for an overview of a Rec Player vs a Competitive Player) Groups will not rotate biweekly, but will play each week simultaneously on designated sides of Northpoint either on Side A (the original courts) or on Side B (the new courts). These are FREE Skills & Drill Clinics for "Members Only" however, REGISTRATION IN REQUIRED IN ADVANCE here on this site.

Wednesday's you'll be welcomed by representatives of ECROCK executive and our fabulously talented and dedicated Volunteers of which many are certified Pickleball Coaches. You can't miss us, we are proudly sporting an ECROCK RED SHIRT! Make yourself known to us and we'll register your name as an attendee and provide you with a name tag. We'll kickoff at 10:00 am sharp so please be court ready by 9:45 for instruction and a warmup. Also NEW is some additional parking which is located on the opposite side of Northpoint Sports by taking the next driveway past Northpoint Sports heading in the direction towards the Avalon Mall . About 20 newly painted spots have been provided and a new entrance will open soon. If the door is locked, you'll have to stroll around the building until the new entrance is complete and in full operation. Some additional reminders are to be sure to wear proper court shoes with a good grip, we strongly suggest you wear safety googles, bring a thermos of water and dress in layers for the air conditioned facility. Please use the change rooms and do not wear outdoor shoes on the court, leave belongs in the change rooms to avoid bringing bags onto the court. The courtesy rule of thumb is you can observe the current players on the court from the window and "do not enter the gym until they have exited the court".

Note: We make it a practice to advise members by 8:30 am should Club Day get cancelled due to weather as an example. Notification is sent via an ECROCK Club email and a Facebook post.

In an effort to expose members to a National Pickleball platform of skills and clinics, we collaborate with Cameron Taylor, Taylored Pickleball Academy, a professional 5.0 national player. Cameron visit's the club from time to time to offer various levels of Clinics designed to improve their game. When Cam delivers his Clinics at Northpoint Sports, we extend our support by paying for the court fees so members only have to cover the cost of the Clinic they select. Cameron also offers private/group sessions to those interested so his visit is a real big deal!

Recreational Tournaments:

One of our favorite things to do is organize 3 fun themed 2-Day tournaments annually with door prize draws, food, beverages, gold, silver and bronze games and awards. Each tournament we select a local organization to make a charitable donation to with your generous support topped up by ECROCK Pickleball Club. We are a proud supporter of our community and are happy to give back whenever we can. Our first planned tournament will be Halloween themed so save the dates of Oct. 22nd & 23rd, 2024 with details to follow at a later date.

Membership Fees: Pickleball Canada's annual fee is $10; Pickleball NL's annual fee is $10 plus $1.42 transaction fees, and ECROCK Pickleball Club annual fee is $12 for a total cost of $28.42 for the 2024 o season (Jan.1st-Dec.31st, 2024). We will notify members when we are ready to open registration for current members to renew for Jan. 1st 2025.

Note: Our Club Membership is CURRENTLY FULL but will reopen to accept a capped number of new members on January 8, 2025 @ 8am until all of the available spots are filled. WE DO NOT MANAGE A WAITLIST.

NEW in September - Wednesday Club Clinics prepared for Recreational Players vs. Competitive Players

When registering for a Wednesday Club Day Clinic, please only register where your skills are best suited based on the criteria below and only register in advance for only 1 Clinic and not both.

Clinics prepared for Recreational Players:
A Recreational Pickleball Player understands the fundamentals of the game and applies them effectively. They can handle various shot speeds and demonstrate good control with both forehand and backhand strokes. These players are comfortable moving to the net and using basic strategies, including dinking, to their advantage. They may still be refining their consistency and shot selection but have a solid grasp of court coverage and mobility. Recreational players are those who enjoy the sport at a more relaxed level.

Clinics prepared for Competitive Players:
A Competitive Pickleball Player actively seeks more challenging play, such as ladders or tournaments. They serve and return with depth and placement 80% of the time, maintain longer rallies, and use advanced techniques like dinking and drop-shots effectively. Their court coverage, quickness, and strategic play with a partner are well-developed, and they anticipate opponents’ shots. Competitive players are competent drilling partners and work to continually improve their skills and shot selection.

It's a place where you can find instant updates; reminders or if players are needed last minute. Also its a place to share relative pickleball information or add a little light hearted humor to our day!

Pickleheads App: https://www.pickleheads.com/ is an App you can download for free to any device and used by various groups to source out Ladder Games by location. This is the only place you can register for an ECROCK Members Ladder game or look for a sub.

Our Email: ecrockpcnl@gmail.com is where you can email us to ask questions. It's not monitored hourly but we are pretty diligent at getting back to you within 24 hours.
