We are pleased to announce that membership fees are unchanged this year at $41.12 for adults.  We are also introducing a junior membership (17 and under as of 01/01/2024) for $31.12.  Included in this rate are your mandatory Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada memberships ($21.12). 

If you are already a member of Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada the cost to join the PPA will be $21.12 ($11.12 juniors).

What is the Membership Year?

The membership year for Pickleball Canada and the Provincial and Territorial pickleball associations is from January 1 to December 31. If you register on October 1 or later in the year your membership runs to December 31 of the following year.

Please note that Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada membership fees are NON-REFUNDABLE. Ensure that you are joining the correct Member Club and that you are aware of their membership fees and costs.



Pickleball Canada Registration

Our new registration system allows you to register at one time with your club, if you belong to one, your provincial or territorial sports organization (PTSO) and Pickleball Canada. If you belong to more than one club, you will only register with Pickleball Canada once! If you belong to more than one club and they are in different provinces/territories you will be required to join each of the PTSOs.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT(hereinafter referred to as the "Release Agreement")

This Release Agreement shall apply to all subsequent membership renewals.

BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT YOU WILL WAIVE OR GIVE UP CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE OR CLAIM COMPENSATION FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT

TO: PICKLEBALL CANADA ORGANIZATION, and its affiliated provinces and territories and its local associations and clubs, and their respective directors, officers, employees, instructors, agents, representatives, volunteers, independent contractors, subcontractors, sponsors, successors and assigns (hereinafter collectively referred to as the "Releasees").

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS

I am aware that participating in the sport of pickleball involves many risks, dangers and hazards including, but not limited to: collision with other persons or objects; being struck by a paddle; being hit by a ball; the risk of stroke, heart attack or other similar life threatening conditions caused by physical exertion; the risk of personal injury including, but not limited to, strains, sprains, fractures, brain injury, spinal cord injury including paraplegia or quadriplegia, or death; loss of balance or control; slips, trips and falls; negligent first aid; failure to act safely or within one’s own ability; negligence of other persons; and, NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES. I UNDERSTAND THAT NEGLIGENCE INCLUDES FAILURE ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD OR PROTECT ME FROM THE RISKS, DANGERS AND HAZARDS REFERRED TO ABOVE. I FREELY ACCEPT AND FULLY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, DANGERS AND HAZARDS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE OR LOSS RESULTING THEREFROM.

In consideration of the Releasees accepting my application for membership in the Pickleball Canada Organization and, as applicable, my affiliated province or territory and local association or club, and permitting my use of the facilities and premises provided by the Releasees (hereinafter "the premises"), I hereby agree as follows:

1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against THE RELEASEES, and TO RELEASE THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any loss, damage, expense or injury including death that I may suffer, or that my next of kin may suffer, as a result of my participation in the sport of pickleball including, but not limited to, my use of the premises DUE TO ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE, INCLUDING ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER ANY PROVINCIAL OCCUPIERS’ LIABILITY LEGISLATION ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES. I UNDERSTAND THAT NEGLIGENCE INCLUDES THE FAILURE ON PART OF THE RELEASEES TO TAKE REASONABLE STEPS TO SAFEGUARD OR PROTECT ME FROM THE RISKS, DANGERS AND HAZARDS REFERRED TO ABOVE.

2. TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any damage to property of or personal injury to any third party, resulting from my use of or presence on the premises;

3. This Release Agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives, in the event of my death or incapacity;

4. This Release Agreement and any rights, duties and obligations as between the parties to this Release Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted solely in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and no other jurisdiction; and

5. Any litigation involving the parties to this Release Agreement shall be brought solely within the Province of Ontario, and shall be within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of the Province of Ontario.

In entering into this Release Agreement I am not relying upon any oral or written representations or statements made by the Releasees with respect to the safety of pickleball other than what is set forth in this Agreement.

I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS RELEASE AGREEMENT AND I AM AWARE THAT BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS WHICH I OR MY HEIRS, NEXT OF KIN, EXECUTORS, ADMINISTRATORS, ASSIGNS AND REPRESENTATIVES MAY HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASEES.

(hereinafter referred to as the “Release Agreement”)

TO: PICKLEBALL ONTARIO associations, clubs and their respective directors, officers, employees, instructors, agents, representatives, volunteers, independent contractors, subcontractors, sponsors, successors and assigns (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Releasees”).

ASSUMPTION OF RISKS

I am aware that participating in the sport of pickleball involves many risks, dangers and hazards including, but not limited to: the transmission of a communicable disease, including but not limited to COVID-19; collision with other persons or objects; being struck by a paddle; being hit by a ball; the risk of stroke, heart attack or other similar life threatening conditions caused by physical exertion; the risk of personal injury including, but not limited to, strains, sprains, fractures, brain injury, spinal cord injury including paraplegia or quadriplegia, or death; loss of balance or control; slips, trips and falls; negligent first aid; failure to act safely or within one’s own ability; negligence of other persons; and, negligence on the part of the releasees. I understand that negligence includes failure on the part of the releasees to take reasonable steps to safeguard or protect me from the risks, dangers and hazards referred to above. I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, or property damage or loss resulting therefrom.

  2. To hold harmless and indemnify the releasees from any and all liability for any damage to property of or personal injury to any third party, resulting from my use of or presence on the premises.
  3. This Release Agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives, in the event of my death or incapacity;

I have read and understand this release agreement and I am aware that by agreeing I am waiving certain legal rights which I or my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and representatives may have against the releasees.

PETERBOROUGH PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION CODE OF CONDUCT

The main objective of the PPA code of conduct is to ensure that its members behave in a manner that will respect all members and guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment, while maintaining a positive approach to the goals and purpose of the PPA.

The PPA code of conduct applies to all participants, members, sponsors, volunteers and guests who participate in any PPA activity or event. It also requires that members of the PPA always demonstrate appropriate behaviour, including in their use of social media to ensure that it is not detrimental to the PPA or its members.

Member responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrate respect and courtesy for every person regardless of race, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, ancestry, athletic ability, disability, creed and family, economic or marital status. Respect the rights, dignities, sensitivities and worth of every person.
  2. Never verbally or physically abuse, discriminate, or harass in any way, including sexual harassment, or the use of profane, insulting or otherwise offensive language towards any opponents, officials, spectators, volunteers or sponsors. Always treat everyone with dignity.
  3. Avoid inappropriate comments or criticisms of coaches, volunteers, officials, organizers, or members; use the proper channels for any grievances and recommendations for changes.
  4. Respect the property of others. Do not willfully cause damage, theft, or loss.
  5. Wear safe and appropriate clothing for the game of pickleball. Ensure that no article of clothing will be offensive to anyone.
  6. Adhere to the rules of pickleball and the spirit of those rules. Demonstrate sportsmanship, sport leadership and ethical conduct. Be honest, fair and reasonable, remembering that good sportsmanship is an integral part of pickleball.
  7. All players shall use their best effort while competing in a tournament, or other specified PPA events and activities.
  8. Be punctual and courteous. If unable to attend a prior commitment, give sufficient notice.
  9. Promote the sport of pickleball.
  10. Ensure that any post on social media will not be offensive to any members, or detrimental to the PPA or the sport of pickleball.
  11. Members will be responsible for the conduct of their guests.
  12. Members will not infer that they speak on behalf of the PPA unless specifically authorized by the Board.
  13. Abide by the Constitution and By Laws of the PPA. Suggestions for improving these are always welcome and must be submitted to the Board.

Members recognize that failure to abide by the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by the Board pursuant to PPA By Law Number 2 Membership. This may range from a simple discussion of the matter to a warning or suspension or revocation of membership.
