Safety Guidelines and Recommendations

The following safety considerations are published for players.

The wearing of safety eye wear is recommended while playing pickleball.

The wearing of tensor wraps/braces if applicable for joints to prevent injuries or strains is recommended. Stretch and warmup before hand.

Do not run backwards to avoid tripping, turn and run sideways.

Do not enter adjacent court to chase a ball or play a shot. Stop and shout “ball” to alert adjacent court players. Wait for ball to be returned.

Stop play when adjacent court player shouts “ball” or the ball enters your court. Retrieve and return. Replay point.

When playing in a Gymnasium pay particular attention to proximity of walls to avoid backing or running into a wall.

Wear good quality shoes suitable for court play on hardwood as well as concrete or artificial playing surfaces. Ensure shoes are well maintained and replace when sole shows signs of wear.

Be aware of the condition of a playing surface and at any time a playing surface appears to be unsuitable for play or becomes unsuitable for play avoid playing under such conditions.

Refrain from overly aggressive play (eg: diving for a shot, charging the net) to prevent personal injury or possible injury to others.

Keep hydrated and avoid over exertion.

As a member of the Barrhead Pickleball Club, you are responsible for your own personal safety. If you choose to ignore any safety guidelines or engage in risky playing behaviour you assume the risks associated with becoming injured as well as liability for injury to other players.
