Great Lakes Pickleball Club

Annual General Meeting

Minutes of Meeting

Nov. 4, 2025

The AGM meeting was held at Lighthouse Church on Nov. 4, 2025 at 11:50 a.m.  18 Members were in attendance.

Item #1 - Update from Pickleball Ontario/Canada

Eye injuries from pickleball are on the rise. Players are strongly encouraged to wear eye protection. Safety glasses can be purchased for as low as $5 from safety supply stores or for those who prefer lens free eye wear, Kitchen Blockers specifically designed for pickleball play can be purchased online.

Item #2 – Financial Update

A financial report was provided by Ginny Bird. The opening balance as of April 2025 was $118.35. Membership fees collected in September were $1375.00. A new white board, painter’s tape and 4-3 packs of indoor balls was purchased in Sept. Total expenditure $126.16. Monthly rent to church is $150/month. To date 2 months’ rent has been paid leaving a closing balance of $1067.19.

Item #3 – Pickleball Ontario/Canada Membership Renewal

An email will be sent out on Dec. 1st to all members of Great Lakes PB Club whose membership is expiring on Dec. 31-25 to renew their membership. This email will automatically be sent out. We ask all members to renew before Dec. 15, 2025 so we can provide Lighthouse Church with an updated insurance form on Jan. 1, 2026. If anyone has difficulty navigating the PB Ontario website, please contact Sue Bernier and instructions can be emailed.

Item #4 – Review of Board Positions

An invitation was extended to the membership to stand for any of the board positions. There were no takers.

Item #5 – New Business

Our annual Christmas lunch will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd at Boston Pizza at the Four Points Sheraton on Venetian Blvd at noon.

The sun shining in through the windows was discussed and a suggestion was made to ask the church if a solution could be found to cut down on the glare. We will ask the church if they would be willing to have a film installed at our expense.

Members were reminded to log their attendance in the Bench App by 7:00 p.m. the night prior to play. If there are 8 players or less, a spare is welcome to play or members from the opposite group can switch groups.

A suggestion was put forth to hold a pickleball clinic sometime in the 2025/26 season. Anyone who wishes to participate could have an opportunity to enhance their skills. This was left open for further discussion.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:15.
