Background
The Killaloe and Area Pickleball Club (KAPC) started in June 2023. In summer 2024, the ad hoc organizing committee elected to join Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario primarily to address gaps in insurance coverage. Membership includes insurance coverage for players and organizers plus access to other benefits including being able to play at other Pickleball Canada clubs (see https://pickleballcanada.org/membership/membership-benefits/). This includes insurance for sports accidents (if you suffer an injury), general liability (if you suffer damages) and directors and officers insurance (negligent acts). (See https://pickleballcanada.org/membership/insurance-program/ for further information). Pickleball Canada’s insurance program requires all participants to be members of Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario as well as their local club, in this case, KAPC. As a result, the ad hoc committee was re-structured to form a Board of Directors, a prerequisite for clubs to join Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario. Our fee structure was formalized including the addition of a nominal "club fee" to meet Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario requirements.
Registration
Effective September 13, 2024, all regular participants at Killaloe and Area Pickleball Club (KAPC) events are required to be a member of Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Ontario and KAPC. NOTE: Participants are requested to bring proof of registration to their first game after September 13, 2024.
You can join online at https://pickleballcanada.org/ or https://pickleballontario.org/ or click the "JOIN-RENEW" option above (the registration is coordinated between the national and provincial programs).
If you are playing regularly in Killaloe, you will also need to join the KAPC. During registration, Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario also offer an option to select individual clubs to join. Joining KAPC is a prerequisite for club-level insurance coverage. KAPC members will also receive club updates and will be voting members to have your voice heard on the club events (more to follow).
Visitors who are not Pickleball Canada or Pickleball Ontario members can play up to two times per calendar year. They must also sign a waiver and pay the drop-in fees (see below). After two drop-in sessions, they will need to join Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Ontario and KAPC.
