Welcome to the LaSalle Pickleball Association (LPA).
We are a newly founded not-for-profit Association with the purpose of promoting the sport of Pickleball in our community. Our goal is to grow the sport of Pickleball in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging new players to learn the sport and supporting current players with beneficial programs and organized venues within The Town of La Salle.
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sport in Canada and this phenomenon is very evident locally in the number of new people interested in the sport and the numbers of players that show up to play at our town courts as well as the surrounding municipalities. La Salle has been behind other municipalities in our region in terms of Pickleball investment and growth and the LPA was established with the aim of expanding pickleball facilities within our Town for our residents, from youth to seniors. Pickleball is a fun and active sport that anyone can play, at any level and at any age and our goal is to find and develop more places to play and learn to play in an organized manner making it more accessible to La Salle residents.
How we operateWe are a Not-For-Profit incorporated organization and we rely on volunteers and fundraising to support our activities.
Currently we rent facilities from the Town of La Salle to undertake our programs. As a municipality, the Town of La Salle owns, manages and funds the public courts that we play on. The Town determines which of these facilities/venues are open at "public" times and when the Town will "rent" these facilities at a cost to closed/outside events and users. One example is the LaSalle Events Centre. As an Association, LPA will be renting a block of time from the Town in order to hold our first two offerings in July and August: 1. Learn to Play sessions and 2. League/Level play sessions.
As with any Pickleball event, insurance is normally required by the facility or venue allowing the activity. Municipalities, schools, churches or other "open to public" places will either already have this insurance in place or will require the Renter/user to hold this insurance. This is an accepted and necessary standard in the sport of Pickleball to protect both user and venue. This is why LPA is part of both Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada as this allows our members insurance coverage and the ability to play without this limitation. All members of LPA will also be required to be members of Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada (one-time membership of $20/year). If you check other local Pickleball Associations, you will find that this is usually required.
