Code of Conduct
St. PIERRE-JOLYS PICKLEBALL CLUB (SPPBC) CODE OF CONDUCT
The mission of SPPBC is to facilitate the growth of pickleball for the
enjoyment, health and social engagement of it’s players offering organized recreational and competitive play, by ensuring opportunities for the continued development of it’s players in an inclusive environment.
SPPBC has adopted the following Code of Conduct on and off the courts:
- Learn, develop and play by the official rules of pickleball as set out by the USAPA and supported by Pickleball Canada.
- Always display behavior that demonstrates the values of respect, fairness, integrity, honesty and transparency to all other players, both opponents and partners, officials, coaches, visitors and community members.
- SPPBC is a volunteer-run club where all members pitch in and share in the responsibilities and tasks that are essential to run the club (ie: setting up and putting away equipment, participating in extra events which benefit the club).
- Always strive to make the correct line calls, but remember that if there is any doubt, the ball is “in”. Calls are made by the player(s) on the side the ball & line are in question. Calls are FINAL.
- Stop play whenever an unsafe situation arises, such as a stray ball on the court by calling “BALL” loudly. Replay the point.
- Display good sportsmanship above all – win with modesty and lose with dignity.
- A member will not engage in the use of profanity (verbal or gestures).
- Harassment will not be tolerated.
- Harassment is defined as a comment or conduct directed towards an individual or group, which is offensive, abusive, racist, sexist, degrading or malicious.
- An SPPBC member who displays non-sportsmanlike behaviour toward anyone during any club activity will be subject to disciplinary action.
- Any person wishing to report an incident of inappropriate conduct by a club member will do so in writing to the attention of any member of the Board.
- After an investigation of the incident, where supported the offending individual will be provided with a written statement outlining the infractions and the resulting disciplinary decision of the Board. Discipline will be based on the severity of the incident including relevant history and will range from no action to:
– a written warning from the Board of Directors.
– suspension of membership privileges.
– termination of membership rights and privileges.
- The documentation of the incident and reasons for the disciplinary actions will be kept on file by SPPBC.
- The decision of the Board is final
