MPC Volunteering

Finance

This group handles the Club’s operational financial needs such as paying for venues and equipment and supplies and petty cash, and also considers the overall financial well-being of the organization with respect to insurance, contingencies, emergency funds, user fees, and advising on programs to subsidize. Larger or longer-term projects may need multi-year financial planning.

  • Retain financial documents and file income taxes.
  • Pursue grants at all levels to support our plans or inspire new ideas.
  • Determine the appropriate cash float target.
  • Prepare budget and projections each year.
  • Verify insurance coverage and gaps (e.g. additional insurance needed if floor surfaces are purchased).
  • Work with Strategy Committee to advise on funding the needs for the upcoming year and support longer-term thinking.
  • Maintain the financial arrangement with NEMI for the recreation centre facility.
  • Consider monetary donations or other in-kind compensation for Rainbow District School Board (MSS play location) and/or Central Manitoulin (Mindemoya outdoor courts) for the Club’s free use of these facilities, to foster goodwill.
  • Handle donations from members (tax receipts).
  • Help with costing proposed projects (such as temporary floor surfaces –installation/removal/storage).
