Play Coordinators
This group handles day-to-day operations of play times. A core group of volunteers should be maintained at each location/time slot, so individuals are not overburdened with the stressful job of coordinating play on a given day, and can rotate to cover absences. It is good for several people to know how to do this, in order to get different perspectives and avoid a perception of favouritism by the members. There is already an established group of people who have been doing this work for years, but the structure of the group should be more formalized and connected among the venues.
- Arrange rotation/pool of play coordinators for day-to-day play at each location and time, in summer and winter.
- Work with Facilities and Equipment Committee to handle the keys for the Little Current arena during the summer.
- Communicate the play format to members (see the Play Format web page) and keep documentation and reference materials up to date.
- Define and communicate the responsibilities of a play coordinator.
- Maintain documentation for reference/training in case a regular coordinator is not available, also to assist with recruiting/training new play coordinators.
- Consider locations, time slots and days of the week for play, and adjust mid-season as appropriate (5 days a week? Mornings/afternoons/evenings? Split sessions for different skill levels or play formats? Other options? Saturday play in 2025 did not succeed as hoped. This needs to be more transparent in 2026 and in the future with more frequent and formal check- ins with members).
- Work with Player Development Committee to support promotion and operation of tournaments and other special play events.
- Consider player caps at certain venues at certain times? Work with Strategy Committee on membership targets.
- Arrange methods for feedback from players to adjust the play formats through a season.
