Registration closes once the event is full and there are a sufficient number of teams on the waitlist to cover last minute cancellations.
How Does the Lightning Tournament Work?
- Pre-registered doubles teams are randomly assigned a court using playing cards.
- Once on the court, the teams flip a coin. The team that wins the coin toss gets to choose first serve or side.
- Rally scoring is used (i.e. a point is scored on every rally regardless of which team has served).
- Each game lasts for 10 minutes. The team with the most points when the bell rings wins that game. If the teams are tied, the team scoring the last point is the winner.
- Winning teams move up one court, runner-up teams move down one court. Winners on court 1 and runners up on court 4 stay where they are.
- The teams on court 1 at the end of the tournament win a prize.
