Marquette University sophomore thrower Samantha Kennedy captured a gold medal Saturday, July 28 in the women's hammer throw at the 2012 Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. Kennedy topped the field with a toss of 50.85 meters (166 feet, 10 inches) to claim the event title over 10 other competitors.
