Safety Eyewear
Blue Coast Pickleball Club strongly recommends that all members wear approved safety eyewear while playing at all club events
Pickleball paddles and balls, though lightweight, can cause injuries if a player is hit in the eye, often from a misdirected or fast-moving ball. While eye injuries are relatively rare, safety goggles or glasses are a good precaution, particularly in competitive settings or for players positioned closer to the net, where quick reactions are needed.
Many clubs encourage or even require eye protection to reduce injury risk. In general, safety measures like eye protection are encouraged as pickleball gains popularity and more players seek to protect themselves against accidental impact.
