CODE OF CONDUCT

BOWEN ISLAND PICKLEBALL SOCIETY (BIPS)

a) Maintain and enhance the dignity and self-esteem of members and non-members by:

  1. Demonstrating respect for every person regardless of physical characteristics, athletic ability, age, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, creed, disability, economic or marital status, gender identity or expression or sexual orientation.
  2. Focusing comments or criticism appropriately and avoiding public criticism of athletes, coaches, officials, organizers, volunteers, employees or members.
  3. Consistently demonstrating the spirit of sportsmanship, sport leadership and ethical conduct.
  4. Acting, when appropriate, to correct or prevent practices that are unjust and discriminatory.
  5. Consistently treating individuals fairly and reasonably.
  6. Ensuring adherence to the rules of pickleball and the spirit of those rules

b) Refrain from:

  1. Verbal or physical abuse.
  2. Any form of harassment, including sexual harassment.
  3. Using of profane, insulting or otherwise offensive language.
  4. Using of power or authority to coerce another person.
  5. Consuming alcohol, tobacco products or recreational drugs while participating in WKPC activities.

c) Abstain from:

  1. Offering coaching tips without being asked
  2. Publicly speaking poorly of club officials or volunteers
  3. Manipulating club playing structures (like Drop In Play or Hold My Court) in order to create a personally beneficial outcome

d) Respect the property of others and not willfully cause damage.

e) Comply, always, with WKPC’s bylaws, policies, procedures, rules and regulations, as adopted and amended from time to time.

f) Conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the highest standard of behaviour arising within the business, activities or events of the West Kelowna Pickleball Club.

g) Approve of and adopt the WKPC council’s guiding questions in decision making:

  1. What is in the best interest of the WKPC?
  2. Is there an opportunity to create a win-win?
  3. How would the other person want to be treated in this situation?
