Garth Matthews Memorial Pickleball Tournament
Volunteers
On October 18th ,2025 we will be hosting the 10th Annual Garth Matthews Memorial Pickleball Tournament.
In order to make this a successful tournament we require volunteers.
Volunteer duties include registration, score keeping and selling raffle tickets; set up and take down. You do not have to volunteer all day. Would need 5 people in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. You can reach me at bruceandrobin1981@eastlink.ca.

Town of Stratford - Changes to Pickleball
A note from the Town of Stratford:
"Thank you for your inquiry regarding pickleball programming in the Town of Stratford. With the impending opening of the new Atlantic Pickleball facility in our community, we anticipate that many new opportunities for play and programming will now be available through that venue.
As a result, the Town will be downsizing our pickleball programming. Pickleball has been a significant component of our recreation offerings in recent years, which has, at times, limited our ability to introduce new and different programs. Moving forward, we will be balancing our overall recreation schedule to provide a more diverse range of programs and activities for residents of all ages and interests.
We will continue to offer pickleball programs through the Town, but in a reduced capacity, complementing the expanded opportunities now available at the Atlantic Pickleball facility.
Thank you for your understanding as we evolve our programming to best serve the community’s growing and varied recreational needs."
Pickleball Canada Announces DUPR...

Pickleball Canada, one of the largest pickleball federations in the world, has officially adopted DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) as its official rating system.
This national partnership cements DUPR as the standard for all players, coaches, and organizers across Canada, bringing a unified and trusted rating framework to the fastest-growing sport in North America.

All players will require a DUPR score to compete in Sanctioned events.
2025 Membership Fees
The membership fees for 2025 are free!
Because of the lack of facilities within the Town of Stratford the board decided not to charge a membership fee this year. If you want to remain on our email list please make sure to register for Hillsborough Bay Pickleball Club in your Pickleball Canada profile. This is no charge as long as you have a current Pickleball Canada membership.

The Town of Stratford’s indoor Recreational Pickleball Programs are winding down for this season. The Monday / Wednesday groups have their last session on June 30, 2025. The Tuesday / Thursday groups are finished.
If you are looking for a place to play, open courts can be found at Kinlock Park, 61 Bonavista Avenue Stratford PE Canada. Just drop in and play.
Hillsborough Bay Pickleball Club decided NOT to pay the court rental fees to reserve court times, for club play this summer.
The informal, beat the heat, summer schedule will be as follows:
Monday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Tuesday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Wednesday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Thursday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm
Our only scheduled event is Saturday 8:30am to 12:00pm – Bruce’s Fun Tournaments!
This is a random doubles tournament intended to raise money for the Garth Mathews Memorial tournament in October. Fee is $2 and all are welcome to play. Please try to be there before 8:45 for registration purposes. Play begins at 9:00 a.m.
The town sets up a porta potty during the summer months at this location.
It is a short walk from the parking lot, usually across wet grass, to get to the courts. We suggest you carry your court shoes to the court! Bring your chair! Bring your water!
