Paying Your Session Fee

Please pay your session fee with a $5 bill. This eliminates the need for the club to roll coins at the end of the month or to check (and correctly account for) session fees that have been sent by an e-transfer; one less task our volunteers need to do.

Sessions in Progress

Please respect the play time of a group playing before your session. When we have back to back sessions (ie. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings), we ask that the later group arrive quietly and come into the hall no earlier than 15 minutes before their scheduled time. We ask that all members not crowd the playing area at the back of the courts or the area around the table.

Oops, You are Player #13!

Our 2 hour sessions are capped at 12 people and our 1.5 hour sessions at 10 to allow adequate play time for our members. If you mistakenly show up for a session, or drop in to see if there is an available spot for you, and you are player #13, do not be surprised when you are turned away.

Our Facilitators

Our sessions would not run without our facilitators. Our facilitators do not receive a free membership. They do not play in the session for free. They are volunteering their time every week (some of them 2 and 3 times a week) and are doing their best. This is a gentle reminder to be kind to our facilitators.

There is no perfect round robin. Believe me . . . we have tried to come up with one!

A session in progress is not the place to grumble about your dissatisfaction or to make suggestions regarding the round robin. If you have what you think is a better way to run the session or the round robin, please speak to a director (not the facilitator). We are open to suggestions and would gladly test run your idea. We would even let you run a session with what you think might work better.

Back to Back Sessions

With a limited number of evening sessions, and to give club members who work an opportunity to play, the Revelstoke Pickleball Club asks that members not sign up for two BACK TO BACK sessions (ie.Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings 6:00 - 7:30 and 7:30 - 9:30). We ask that you initially sign up for either the early or late session whichever is your preference. If there is space available as we get closer to the session (48 hours before the start time), feel free to sign up. Members will have had the opportunity to sign up for the session if they were interested in playing.

In/Out Balls

The receiving team is responsible for calling an “in” or “out” ball on their side of the net. If neither player is able to confidently make the call, the ball is considered “in”. They may ask for the other team’s opinion, but then must accept that call. Spectators are not to be making line calls.

Open Sessions

Our Open sessions are open to all skill levels. All players are welcome. The focus of this session is on social play rather than competition. Players play to extend the rally allowing everyone to participate and have fun.

When playing against members that are weaker than you, pick a shot that you want to improve upon and focus on hitting that shot. Focus on consistency and keeping the ball in play rather than slamming every put-away shot you get.

When playing against members that are stronger than you, do not avoid hitting the ball to them. No one likes to watch their partner hit all the balls; hit the ball to them as well. It will make you a better player, make it more fun for them, and make it more likely that they will play with you again next time.
