QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  1. Was the new flooring expense included in the numbers in the financial presentation?
    • No, the flooring expense will be included in this current years expenses
  2. Can SLPC suggest to the City a Wifi camera so members can see if courts are available?
    • Yes SLPC will request that as well as more screening around the courts, lighting and wind indicators
  3. How do you register for programming using SALIX?
    • To book courts login to: https://app.salixreservations.com/
    • You can register for programming one week ahead to the hour
    • SAlix code for registration is slpc2023
    • Make sure to attach a method of payment to your account or it will not let you book
    • Ensure your new SLPC rating matches your salix self rating to register in programminG
  4. What is the policy for bringing a guest?
    • The current policy is a guest is welcome to try up to three sessions at a cost of $10 per session, however a waiver is required.
  5. What is the cancellation policy now that credit cards will be used in Salix?
    • 24 hour cancellation is required in order to cancel any credit card charges
  6. How many spots per court will be available to book?
    • There will be 5 spots per court, and a waiting list per court
  7. What if not enough people sign up for a session?
    • 4 people are required, if less than that the session will be cancelled and no credit card charges will apply
    • We encourage members to check Salix to see if others have booked, and we encourage members to use the waitlist in case spots open in order to promote full use of the courts. The waitlist will automatically place the member in an open spot and notify them via email.

8. Can I enroll multiple people for individual play?

        - No, each member must have an individual account and enrol for play individually. The exception is the                 ‘Open Court’ play where multiple names can be entered.

9. In regard to ratings, what if a member has a rating from an external assessor?

         -You can provide the documentation and it will be reviewed and the Club rating will be adjusted accordingly

10. Is there a chart that accurately describes the different levels of play?

         - Yes there is a checklist on Pickleball Canada website. We encourage members to review this.

11. What if a member doesn’t want to play in tournaments, can they still play in rated programming at the club?

         - Yes, the self-assessed rating from brackets less 0.26 will be used, or we encourage members to participate            in unrated play within a suitable level.

12. Will the Club be ready for December 9th with rated play?

          -Yes, the ratings will be ready and documented. We will proceed with the rated programs as soon as our                 processes to manage them are ready and may adjust as needed in the New Year.

13. Is the City going to mend the courts that need repair?

          - The Club is capturing photos of things that need repair and is in communication with the City to ensure                 the items are brought to their attention.

14. What is the policy on rain, who determines whether the court is playable?

          - Safety is always first, and the court monitor will determine if the court is safe to play.

15. What are the responsibilities of court monitors?

          -  The court monitor will determine if the court is safe to play, will ensure the members that have signed                 up are playing, will ensure any waivers are completed and any updates to the play for that session are                   communicated to the proper channels.           - Monitors are not personally liable, the insurance is held through the Club.

16. Can a court monitor play as well?

          - That is ideal, as long as all the monitoring duties have been completed.

17. Will Salix have the ability to book the court monitors?

          - No Salix is not set up for that, however a communal calendar will be provided when ready

18. Will the court monitors have papers or a laptop to use?

          - There will be an SLPC Binder available with information such as programming information, schedules,                    SLPC rules and safety, and guest waivers

    19. What is the power of a court monitor, can they suspend play?

              - Yes the court monitor is required to ensure safe play, and if they deem it is not safe they will suspend                   play. All members need to be informed of the court monitor duties and need to respect the decisions made             at the time.

    20. Court monitors need to have the ability to see all bookings regardless of gender or skill level. 

              - Agreed and available

    21. For safety reasons it is requested that any DeGroots employees be escorted to their vehicles at the end of evening play.

              - Absolutely. The court monitor scheduled for the end of night, will be available to escort the employee.

    22. Will the Corunna courts be part of the SLPC bookings?

              - As we are the Sarnia-Lambton Pickleball Club, we would be happy to partner with St. Clair Township and               determine how we can participate. We will entertain discussion with the appropriate people to determine             feasibility.
