BACKGROUND

What Is a Ladder League?

A ladder league groups players each week based on their previous results, so you're always playing opponents with similar performance.

Each week:

  • You'll play everyone in your group.
  • Strong performances move you up the ladder.
  • Tougher weeks move you into a more competitive group.
  • Every week offers new opponents and another opportunity to climb the standings.

Why DUPR?

DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is the world's leading pickleball rating system. Using DUPR allows you to:

  • Track your progress throughout the season.
  • Play against competitors with similar skill levels.
  • Build an official rating recognized by clubs and tournaments worldwide.
  • Add credibility to your match results.

How the Ladder and DUPR Work Together

Weekly Move Up/Down determines the group you'll play in the following week based on your performance that evening.

Your DUPR rating is calculated independently using your match results and the ratings of your opponents. While moving up the ladder gives you the opportunity to compete against stronger players, your DUPR rating is based on match outcomes—not your ladder position.

In summary:

  • Ladder position determines who you play next week.
  • DUPR measures your playing ability based on your match results.
  • Together, these systems create balanced, competitive, and enjoyable league play throughout the season
