Event Details
This event on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 1:30 to 4:30, will be a fun and fundraising mixer in support of FunSports.
The event will be purely recreational -- we are using the word tournament in that we will be setting up courts and organizing play by level. But the focus is on fun and socializing -- sign up to play, meet new people, and help raise money for the charity while increasing the exposure of pickleball on the peninsula.
One court will be set aside for our coaches to introduce kids from public housing and low income households to pickleball. The other 3 courts will be recreational play for club members -- we will mix things up to give everyone a range of games and the chance to see familiar faces and meet new people. Select your level when registering to help us keep courts balanced.
Should it rain on September 26 we will move the event to the Sunday (September 27).

Operational funding for this event was sponsored by Pickleball Nova Scotia. We thank them for their support.
Pickleball Paddles Canada has sponsored equipment for the participating kids. Four paddles are being fully donated and the remainder are being provided to us with a significant reduction (70% off). Because of this generosity all of the children who learn to play at this event will go home with their own high-quality paddle... thus removing one of the barriers to play.
We would also like to thank the Halifax Parks & Recreation staff who helped with the organization of courts for this event and helped us obtain a rate reduction.
How to Participate
Participation is this tournament is open to Halifax Pickleball Club members of all skill levels. Click on the register button above to sign up.
Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors there is no charge to participate. We are asking players to give what they can to our charity (a link to the donation page will be sent with your receipt).
The Cause
In lieu of a registration fee we are asking participants to donate to FunSports -- a community organization dedicated to providing children from low-income and public housing backgrounds with access to a wide range of sports activities. They believe in breaking down barriers and ensuring that all kids can participate in sports, even those that may be considered financially out of reach. They want every child to have the chance to explore their athletic potential and discover the sports they love.
Halifax Pickleball Club (HPC) supports everything that FunSports stands for and we hope our members will be able to give generously. Even if you cannot play, please consider making a donation here. And let them know it is in support of the HPC event!
We will also be making a call for volunteers to help us set up and take down as well as to help out on the kids court. So if you aren't able to play watch for volunteer opportunities in the near future.
