Horseshoe Valley Pickleball

May News Blast

Spring Fling

We are thrilled to report that our recent Spring Fling event was a tremendous success, thanks to the overwhelming support and generosity of our attendees, both old and new. The turnout was fantastic, and the atmosphere was filled with warmth and camaraderie as we gathered to welcome the arrival of spring and support a worthy cause.

One of the highlights of the event was the outpouring of donations for The Orillia Sharing Place Food Bank. We are delighted to announce that, in addition to collecting 187 pounds of much-needed food items, we also raised $240 in cash donations. These contributions will go a long way in assisting those in our community who are facing food insecurity, providing them with vital support during challenging times.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the individuals and businesses who donated gifts for our door prizes. Your contributions added an extra layer of excitement to the event, and we are immensely grateful for your support. Special thanks to Horseshoe Valley Glassworks, Hardwood Ski and Bike, and all our other donors for their generosity and community spirit.

Board News and Updates

Less than a year ago, a group of volunteers were elected as Board members for Horseshoe Valley Pickleball. They represented the Club and focused their time, energy and the funds provided by the membership fees on bringing together the four required components for an effective Pickleball Club: courts, equipment, members, direction.

It has been an exciting year and Dave Viney has played an integral role in our Club achieving its many accomplishments. At this time however, after having taken a small step back from his involvement in Board duties over the last few months due to personal reasons, Dave has resigned as President of HVPB. The Board stands united as we thank him and wish him the best in his Pickleball games. The board will continue to operate as a 5 person unit for the remainder of the year.

Schedule Updates

As previously mentioned, the schedule was designed to allow for updates and adjustments throughout the season in response to requests from our members. We're thrilled to introduce new times geared towards competitive play and ladder matches.

You will notice these changes on the new schedule. For these games we will be using the Swish app for these events. Download the app and check it out. (it is not a dating app!) There will be a followup email tomorrow with the details.

Team Reach

Not getting TeamReach Messages?...make sure your notifications are on. With the constant change in weather it’s hard to know when people will be at the courts, TeamReach is a great way to let people know you will be going. Don’t be shy post away!

Making change

There are always growing pains when adapting to new schedules and working around parameters beyond our groups control.

Talking to or emailing board members is always the best way to communicate or advocate. If we can make it happen we will try! Good things take hard work. If anyone is interested in volunteering or helping out in any aspect of the club, please let us know.

Let’s keep Horseshoe great!

Speaking of great things…

We have received recent information that the township has taken their focus and funds off of Guthrie for Pickle Ball and has now made Horseshoe Valley a priority for new dedicated courts. We have shown them that this is where the action is! They are in early stages of design and surveying.

Let’s keep using the court times we’ve been given to show the strength of pickleball in Horseshoe Valley.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us with these accomplishments over this past
