Balls Crossing Into Other Courts

Players have been injured because they have tripped over balls from other courts.

If your ball enters a neighbouring court, DO NOT go on that court to get the ball if play is still in progress. Instead, loudly call BALL and wait for them to stop play and retrieve the ball for you. The player who is serving should raise their paddle in the air to indicate where the retrieved ball should be sent.

If you hear BALL called and see the neighbours ball in your court, retrieve it and look for the player with their paddle raised so you can pass it back to them directly. Do not simply flick the ball across the floor in the general direction of the court who needs it.

Calling Balls Out of Bounds

Read the official rules (section 6) to clearly and completely understand the rules governing balls going out of bounds. The rules cover it quite well.

If a ball goes out of bounds, loudly call OUT and point your index finger into the air.

Calling the Score

Only the serving player should call the score. They should do so loudly and clearly PRIOR to the motion of hitting the ball. It is a fault if the score is not called correctly before serving.
