Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct
Southeast Pickleball Sud-Est is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all players, guests, and visitors. The Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for behavior both on and off the court encompassing both play and social activities.
Respect and Inclusion – it’s simple, Be Kind
- Treat every person associated with SEPSE — players, guests, visitors, coaches, volunteers, officials, and staff — with dignity and respect.
- Discrimination, harassment, or bullying of any kind based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
- Offensive language, slurs and derogatory remarks, (spoken or written online) are prohibited.
- Physical intimidation or threatening behavior toward any person will result in immediate suspension from SEPSE activities.
- Registered Players are expected to unregister for a session they cannot attend. Other players are expecting you, ‘Wait Listed’ players are hoping to move to ‘Registered’, do not hold a spot you know you cannot play in.
Sportsmanship – Aspire to Inspire
- Compete honestly. Do not intentionally mislead opponents; rules, scores, or line calls.
- Accept outcomes with grace. Win without boasting; lose without blaming others.
- Acknowledge good pickleball play by others; refrain from offering advice unless requested
- Do not distract other players, use profanity or throw objects that could injure other players.
Safety – We all play a role
- All players must wear protective eyewear while playing.
- Players are responsible for knowing their own physical limits. Inform your partners if you have an injury or condition that may affect play or safety.
- If your ball goes into another court or another teams’ ball comes into your court, yell ‘BALL’ to stop play immediately.
- If you witness unsafe play, (running backwards, overly aggressive uncontrolled play) wait for the appropriate moment and mention it to the person in a kind and constructive manner.
- If you witness a potential medical emergency, stop play immediately, determine if 911 should be called. First aid kits and AED devices are located at Court 3 entrance.
- Children under 12 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times in the facilities.
- Any person who appears to be impaired, (alcohol or any substance) will not be permitted to participate in SEPSE activities and will be asked to leave the premises.
Social Media and Online Communication – Be positive
- Players are expected to maintain respectful and positive online communications, including social media posts, group chats, and forums.
- Do not post photos or videos of other players without their explicit consent.
- Disputes or grievances should be addressed to the Executive Committee or Curl Moncton and not aired publicly via social media.
- The Executive Committee reserves the right to remove negative content from SEPSE sites
Conflict Resolution – Find common ground
When disagreements and misunderstandings occur, we encourage the following approach:
- Address the issue directly and respectfully with the session coordinator.
- If direct resolution is not possible, bring the concern to the Executive Committee for an informal resolution through conversation and mediation.
- If the issue is not resolved informally, a written complaint may be submitted to the Curl Moncton General Manager.
- The General Manager and its Board will review the complaint, gather information from all parties, and issue a written decision within 14 days.
- All decisions of the Curl Moncton Board are final
Reporting a Concern
Speak to the Session Coordinator, if not satisfied then:
- Ask the session coordinator to bring the concern to the Executive Committee.
- Concerns can be submitted in writing to sepickleball@curlmoncton.ca.
- All concerns are treated with discretion and fully investigated
