JOIN YOUR FELLOW BVPA MEMBERS FOR INDOOR PLAY AT THE CANMORE REC CENTER!
BVPA has booked dates/times in November and December for members’ indoor play at the Canmore Rec Center (Room 200, 1900-8 Ave, Canmore, T1W 1Y2) but this year will be different from last year in a number of ways.
This year, BVPA indoor play will be structured play for members only. There will be sessions available for Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. The Rec Center has said there will be no drop-in play this year.
Each session will be 1.5 hours in duration which will permit 7 timed games per session with a maximum of 10 participants per session on the two courts.
This year, BVPA indoor play cannot be on “a pay as you play” basis. When we book our court times with the Town of Canmore, we must pay for the hours we book regardless of whether or not we fill the courts to the full complement. So, if we have fewer than the full complement, we still pay the full rate and the club runs a deficit.
Therefore, this year BVPA is offering an innovative user pay system for members to purchase packets of tickets:
Advanced and Intermediate session members may purchase a packet of 8 “tickets” for $56 per packet to a maximum of 2 packets.
Novice session members may purchase a packet of 4 “tickets” for $28 per packet for the November sessions. For the December sessions (Dec 5 and 12th), purchase of tickets will be available as single tickets (max of 2 per registrant).
You can then use one “ticket” for each event you choose to play in. The “tickets” will be transferable so friends can share a packet of tickets. However, in order to have an incentive for players to use their tickets, unused tickets will expire on December 31, 2022.
BVPA has booked the following dates and times for the fall session:
Novice Sessions
Mondays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon on November 7, 14, 21, 28 and December 5 and 12th.
The December Novice sessions have now been booked as there is sufficient demand. These sessions may be mentored if desired by participants.
Intermediate Sessions
Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon on November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and December 6, 13, 20
Thursdays from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon on October 27, November 3, 10, 24 and December 1, 8, 15, 22
Advanced Sessions
Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on November 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and December 6, 13, 20
Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on October 27, November 3, 10, 24 and December 1, 8, 15, 22
The packets will be available for purchase online starting 4:00 p.m. Monday, October 3 through this website. Sign ups for the sessions will be in the usual way starting October 23.
This is a good deal, folks. Please buy your packet of tickets as soon as they become available. Quantities are limited.
This is the best pricing BVPA can offer to cover our costs and it is good for our club and our members because it removes the worry about whether we have enough players on any given day to play and cover the rental fees.
