DUPR Jumpstart Ladder – Built for New & Unrated Players

New to competitive pickleball? The DUPR Jumpstart Ladder is designed specifically for players with no rating or outdated rating to help you get established—quickly and accurately.

This short-format ladder focuses on giving you meaningful, balanced games while generating enough match data to build a dependable DUPR profile. You’ll play multiple matches each session against players at a similar stage, with results feeding directly into your rating.

Using the Up & Down The River ladder format, players will first be sorted based on existing DUPR or self-rating. Players move up or down each round of 5 games based on performance. That means you’ll quickly find yourself in competitive games that match your skill level—no long waits, no mismatches.

What to expect:

  • Designed for unrated or outdated DUPR players
  • Multiple matches per session to build your rating fast
  • Skill-based movement to keep games fair and competitive
  • Supportive, low-pressure environment focused on development

If you’re looking to move from “no rating” to a solid, trusted DUPR—this is where you start.

How it works

Players are placed into groups of five based on current DUPR rating (or estimated skill level for unrated players). Each session follows a round robin format designed to maximize play time and create balanced, competitive games.

Within your group, you’ll rotate partners each game so that everyone plays with—and against—each of the other four players. This ensures a fair mix of teammates and opponents while helping generate accurate results for your DUPR rating.

All matches are played to 9 points, win by 1, keeping games fast-paced and allowing for multiple matches each session.

At the end of the round, results are submitted to DUPR, and player movement may occur in future sessions to better align skill levels across groups.

Booking & Details

All sessions are organized and tracked through the Pickleheads app, where you can view your schedule, results, and updates.

If you need to cancel, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice so we can offer your spot to another player.

Please arrive on time and ready to play. Players who arrive more than 5 minutes late may not be able to join the session, as matches will already be underway.
