Who We Are

Barrie Pickleball Club is a not-for-profit group, which incorporated on June 14, 2021.

We are a group of passionate and dedicated pickleball players advocating for the needs of pickleball players in our community. Before formalizing, our advocacy resulted in the addition of a pickleball court on the Sandringham Park tennis court and subsequent construction of both the Painswick Park and Redpath Park dedicated pickleball courts.

Highlights in 2021 include, receiving $25,000 as part of the New Horizons Seniors Grant which went towards equipment and construction two (2) additional dedicated pickleball courts at Painswick Park. Our advocacy and determination in expanding places to play also resulted in four (4) dual purpose courts at Greenfield Park.

In 2022, we had City Council approve a Staff Report recommending the construction of eight (8) new dedicated pickleball courts at Painswick Park. Construction of those courts is to begin August 2022 with a completion date of August 2023. Six (6) of the new courts will be tournament sized while the last two (2) will be constructed to accommodate Para Pickleball, the first courts of these kind in Ontario.

Additionally, commitments were already made to construct four (4) dedicated courts at Eastview Park this summer.

W e will continue our advocacy as we continue to work in collaboration with the City of Barrie to expand outdoor pickleball facilities.

Currently the Barrie Pickleball Club consists of the following directors and founding members:

Kim Porter, Gil Metcalfe, Brad Harris, and Bonnie Carter.

Barrie Pickleball Club Mission
