COVID – 19 Return to Play Recommendations

For Indoor Play

Since the start of the COVID -19 pandemic, Pickleball Manitoba has been committed to providing a safe sporting environment, which includes the health and well-being of our members and the wider pickleball community.

Manitoba is expanding the vaccine passport benefit for fully immunized individuals that will enable businesses, services and events to be available without capacity limits or public health restrictions as of Sept. 3, 2021.

The information is to outline recommendations for pickleball play that will align with the Government of Manitoba and Pickleball Canada directives.

GUIDELINES FOR PLAYERS

Know your risk tolerance: Always follow the guidelines established by your local municipality and/or club. If you don’t feel comfortable with the situation or environment, walk away and don’t play.

DO NOT PLAY IF:

1. You have returned from outside of the province within 14 days and are not fully vaccinated.

2. Are under direction to self-monitor or self-isolate.

3. If you have are not feeling well, if you have any symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, difficulty breathing or have been in contact with someone that is not feeling well

    BOOKING A COURT

    • Management of courts/facilities, crowd control, booking arrangement are all the responsibility of the local clubs.
    • They are responsible to ensure all Provincial Health Orders are enforced and fair play opportunities are provided to all pickleball players – not just club members
    • Management of on-line scheduling system, reservation, and on-line payments are required

    PRIOR TO PLAYING

    • Pack your bag
    • Ensure you have your vaccination card / record with you to present to your local club organizer
    • Make sure you have enough water before leaving the house to avoid having to touch a tap or water fountain
    • Bring your own hand sanitizer
    • Bring a mask to wear
    • Ensure pickleballs are sanitized/disinfected prior to using them on the courts
    • Clean your equipment, including paddle and water bottle
    • Do not share equipment with other players
    • Avoid touching door handles, gates, benches and all other objects where the virus could survive. If you do touch something, make sure to wash your hands and disinfect the surface you have touched

    WHILE PLAYING

      • Masks are mandatory in public areas, or when waiting to play
      • Recommend to wear protective eyewear
      • Avoid touching your face with your hands
      • Try to refrain from blowing your nose, coughing, sneezing while on or near the courts
      • Cough and sneeze into your sleeve or tissue. If sneezing into a tissue, dispose of tissue safely
      • Avoid physical contact with players (e.g. handshakes, fist pumps, elbow bumps)

      AFTER PLAYING

      • Wash and sanitize your hands and equipment
      • Leave the courts and area immediately so that the next group can arrive and commence play as per *club/facility directions.
