Grand Bend Pickleball Club Guest Policy

Implementation date: June 12, 2024

Preamble

The GBPC is a fast-growing Pickleball club with 250+ members and a waitlist. It is expected that the private TRIDON Pickleball Courts will often be at capacity. As a priority, the GBPC Board will endeavor to manage attendance and enhance the playing experience for our club members. At the same time, the Grand Bend area is a unique tourist area and many of our members will likely want to include friends and family when they are visiting the area. Like most clubs, GBPC will prioritize access to courts for ‘club members’ and it will not always be possible to include guests when courts are at capacity. For this reason, the GBPC Guest Policy will be considered temporary and continuously under review. Should it be deemed necessary, the GBPC Board will periodically adjust the guest policy and may need to limit the number of guests at any given time.

The GBPC Board will be monitoring court capacity and will set an overall capacity limit to avoid long wait times. At the onset of the 2024 outdoor season, the capacity of the seven TRIDON Pickleball courts is set at 50 players, inclusive of potential guests.

Guest Policy

During the 2024 outdoor season, when the courts are not at capacity, guests will be included during Open Social Play. Guests must be sponsored by a club member and each club member may have up to 2 guests if the courts are not at capacity. The club member will sign up the guest using Sign Up Genius.

Each guest:

  • Pays $5 per visit, in exact change, to the court convener.
  • Is an active member of PCO/PAO as verified by the court convener who will check the expiry date on the membership card. Guests are asked to present their PCO membership card (e.g., screenshot); otherwise, the convener may verified the membership through the following link: https://secure.pickleballcanada.org/popups/MemberLookup.php?event_info_id=36092&load=1
  • Is permitted to play twice in a season (as per PCO policy). After 2 visits, guests are required to join GBPC if the membership is not capped.
  • Will wear a paper wristband supplied by the Court Convener.
  • Will sign the participation list which includes the following wording: All guests or visitors agree to abide by the Grand Bend Pickleball Club's Bylaws and Policies. This includes our Code of Conduct policy. All guests must be active members of Pickleball Canada and Pickleball Ontario. Guests agree to play at their own risk.

Note: If a guest should arrive at the courts unannounced with a club member, the court convener will determine if the guest can be included based upon the verification of an active PCO membership and court capacity.

What if the GBPC membership becomes too large to allow guests on the TRIDON Pickleball courts? Will visitors to the Grand Bend area be able to play pickleball with family and friends? Yes. Once the Klondyke Sports Park facilities are open, club members will be able to play with non-members on a first come, first serve basis at the park.
