Invermere Pickleball Club
  • Curling Club Play Secured For 2023 Season

As we look forward to the 2023 season, we are thrilled to let everyone know ALL members are going to have access to the Curling Club from April 1st to September 30th next year. Six full months!! Play on the four indoor
courts turned out to be a hit with our members this year, particularly
on poor weather days, when we moved indoors as well as regular evening
play, lessons and club mixers. With the addition of Curling Club
access, we now have a place to hold meetings, parties, etc. Fees will
increase to approximately $100 for the season which includes the fees
for Pickleball Canada, Pickleball B.C. and the Invermere Pickleball
Club. It should be noted the price of $100 was suggested by members at
our recent AGM and was unanimously voted for.

Given the challenges with the District Of Invermere guaranteeing
access to outdoor courts at Mt. Nelson, having 24 hour, seven day a week
access to the four indoor courts, opens up so many possibilities.
Looking around the country at other pickleball clubs, it seems that we
are in a somewhat unique situation with the ability to have this indoor
play option available to us at such a great price - less than one round
of golf at many of the courses. We are looking forward to a super year
next year. We will be sending out a survey in February or March looking
for everyone's input on what they would like to see offered at the
indoor facility in terms of play and social events. Watch for that!

  • Great News, Watch your Email

Just a quick note.  While there has been no progress with the local government in securing evening court time, we are happy to announce that the Invermere Pickleball Club has come to an arrangement to have exclusive use of the Invermere and District Curling Club facility for indoor play from June till end of September.
We have lined and set up 4 courts on their play surface.  As well there is a nice lounge area overlooking the play surface and men's and ladies washrooms.  There is even a small cooler to keep your drinks cool while playing.  Check out the pictures in the Photo Gallery link above.
There will be a drop in, monthly and season fee that applies to pay for the use of the facility and participation in the special programs and lessons that the club will offer.  Remember that this is indoor so it does not matter if it's too cold, too hot, too wet or too windy.  We will be playing.
Please watch your email for details about fees, programs and any registrations.

  • STILL WORKING ON MORE PLAY TIME

We have now gone through two council meetings, had an article in the Pioneer and our President was even interviewed on CBC radio.  We still have no additional play times but are hoping to be close to more day times and some evening play.
On a positive note, the District has acknowledged the need for full time courts and is willing to work with the club to that end.  While they have not committed to any dates, we are trying really hard to have something in place for next year.
Please check back to this website for the latest info and spread the word that we need more time to play and permanent courts.

  • 2022 Summer Season

    Hello all members!
Our new summer season is just around the corner.  Weather permitting, we will start playing the week of April 19 on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1 till 3PM.
Our play is on the multi use court at Mt. Nelson park using our portable nets.  As you know, Mt Nelson offers us 4 courts, public washrooms, full fencing and a proper sport court surface. Currently, the District of Invermere has permitted our club to reserve these courts for pickleball club play every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning.  However, last year, we had requests for additional playing time.
This year, we will be approaching the District council (April 26, 7PM, Columbia Center) to expand both the days and times that we can play.  This will allow for more open play, instruction and drill times and even league play.  If you are available next Tuesday night, please come to the council meeting and support our club representatives that will be presenting to council.
Along with our hopeful expansion of play time, we are planning to have a few social events and tournaments.  All this requires volunteers.  Our club fee structure has now been changed to allow for members that do not wish to help out and those that do.  Because we need to put up portable nets to play, we will need hosts to unlock our equipment, set up, take down and lock up again for every session.  Being a host is easy.  To find out more about being a host, read this document, PB Host duties 2022.pdf
Ultimately, how often we can play and what additional fun events and tournaments we can have ,will be determined by how many volunteers we can rely on.  We will also be trying out teams of host to make it easy to commit to helping out. So PLEASE renew your membership with the cheaper, volunteer option.  For those that have already paid their membership, please email volunteers@ipbclub.ca and let us know that you are going to help out.
For all those who have not renewed your membership, please do so here.
       See everyone on the courts.

against some great people in our mixed play but came up short of the podium. Shoulda, coulda, woulda… we definitely came away with things to work on. Invermere Pickleball Club Resumes Play

It's been a long COVID struggle for everyone, but it seems that we all are seeing the "bright light at the end of the tunnel". Recently, Pickleball BC announced the new Covid regulations regarding outdoor pickleball play which returns us to a state where we can resume our outdoor club play almost like before the start of Covid restrictions. Starting June 8, regular, drop in play will commence at Pineridge, currently starting at 9:30 and going to noon. We will have a host, as usual to register all players and ensure those who are not club members, sign their waiver. There will be no need to sign up ahead of time, however those wishing to continue to sign up will have the benefit of conveniently connecting with other players ahead of time. Play will be completely open with regular rotation facilitated by the paddle holder system that is in place. Players will have the option of rotating partners and opponents or can limit partners as they see fit. The only Covid protocols will be the physical distancing while you wait your turn to play, normal sanitizing and no spectators, only players can attend.

In other news, the club has worked with the DOI to increase court availability. The DOI has stated that by the middle of June, the Mt Nelson multiuse court, will have new lines to facilitate 4 pickleball courts. The club will use these courts for club play and are working out the details on time, court usage, combining play between Pineridge and Mt. Nelson, etc. Once the courts are relined, the club will come out with the information on exactly how we will utilize the new facility. Stay tuned. There are a number of previous members that have held off renewing due to suspension of club activities. Now is the time to renew your membership. Please click https://secure.pickleballcanad... and renew today. Also, we still have high quality, outdoor balls, specifically suited to play better in windy conditions, available to club members. You can get 4 balls for $15 by contacting Sheila at pickleballcv@gmail.com or phone (403) 978 - 4559 Please take advantage of this while we still have balls available. We are all really happy to finally get to this stage and look forward to continuing to build our club facilities and activities as we move forward from here.
