Events:
The end of our fiscal year was October 31st and we look forward to our Annual General Meeting, November 18th, 7 pm at the Flesherton Library. There are currently 141 members in the Club and all are invited to attend as we review our year in pickleball, programs, events, and finances, and elect our volunteer Board of Directors.
Memberships:
Sweet Deal for New Members – starting September 1st, first-time members will get the benefits of membership for the rest of 2024 plus all of 2025. Returning Club members, of course, will be prompted to renew their membership prior to the end of this year.
Taking Care of Business – Annual membership fees for 2025 are $40 for adults and $30 for youth, which includes membership in Pickleball Ontario and Pickleball Canada. A bargain. As we anticipate movement forward on our plans for Municipal pickleball courts in Grey Highlands, we want to be prepared with some fund-raising efforts already in place. Ten dollars from each new membership will go directly into our Court Building Fund. Exciting times ahead.
Be an Angel – just a reminder that the Club (PGH) has a special membership category “Supporting Member,” for pickleball angels who wish to encourage our local Club efforts but don’t intend to play. $20 flat rate does not include membership in Pickleball Canada or Pickleball Ontario, but does include Socials, amusing Updates, and our sincere appreciation.
Memorial Park:
Practice! Practice! Practice! – great news! A new practice board was installed on the court at Memorial Park (sometimes called the Butterfly Park). Many thanks to the ingenuity of Reid Dennison and his minions. Only a few more cosmetic touches to come - some clouds in the sky - and something green at the base. What do you know? That's done too! Many thanks to Holger at ArtsonTen for creating the cloud cover.
Play at Memorial Park - “Church of Pickleball” on Sunday mornings has come to a close. Last service this year was on September 29. Amen!
Club 32:
Play at “Club 32” (aka Beaver Valley Pickleball) is also on the home stretch. The courts are beautiful but the days are getting shorter and the temperature cooler. Still, it has been a magnificent autumn!
Website Highlights:
We are always polishing and buffing the front page of our website with breaking news and timely updates. The News feed especially is a gold mine of fun. Not just Stormin’ Norm’s colourful commentary and Ladder lore, and Beth’s quirky suggestions for socials, but other tender tidbits, like the Pickle Prom pics. BTW, you will have to log in to see the Photo Gallery, just one of the numerous perks of Club membership. For your eyes only.
Make it fun! Do what you love. Love what you do!
