Requirements To Play

In order to participate in pickleball play at any of the venues or sessions organized by the Revelstoke Pickleball Club, you must:

be able to show proof of membership in Pickleball Canada (includes Pickleball BC) for insurance purposes
complete a waiver of claims releasing the Revelstoke Pickleball Club of liability
complete a waiver of claims releasing the venue at which we are playing of liability
create a SignUpGenius account (free - requires first and last name and email address)

Upon satisfying the above stipulations, please inform us at Revelstoke Pickleball Club in order to be added to the list of participants having access to venues and sessions.

Please be considerate of the health of fellow players and refrain from participating if you are not feeling well for any reason.

Club Membership

The 2024 Revelstoke Pickleball Club annual fee is $30 per person and will expire on December 31, 2024. Membership fee can be paid in cash at any session organized by the club (please inform the session facilitator) or by e-transfer to the Revelstoke Pickleball Club using member.revelstokepickleballclub@gmail.com Please include appropriate information in the comment section of the e-transfer for our treasurer.

Club membership is optional.

Drop-In Pickleball?

Unfortunately, drop-in pickleball can not be accommodated at this time.

We are using SignUpGenius to allow participants to sign up for pickleball sessions.

One and a half hour pickleball sessions will have a maximum of ten players while two hour pickleball sessions will have a maximum of twelve players in order to ensure adequate playing time for everyone.

The fee for participation in club organized pickleball sessions will be:

$5.00 per person for club members or
$10.00 per person for non-club members

Cancellation policy

The RPC asks that if you realize you can no longer attend your session, you cancel your reservation promptly to allow another player the opportunity to play. There needs to be adequate time for members to see that a spot has opened up so that they can sign up to play, filling your vacant spot.

It is recognized that there may be times when something comes up, or you are not feeling well and you can not make it to your session However, the rent still has to be paid, so...

if it is 24 hours or more before your session, just remove you name from SUG
if it is less than 24 hours before your session,
remove your name from SUG and
try to find a replacement player to take your spot and/or
post on the RPC Facebook page that a spot is available

If you haven't been able to give enough notice (24 hours) and your spot was not filled, we ask that you pay the appropriate fee ($5 for members and $10 for non-members) either the next time you play or via e-transfer. Please put enough information (such as late cancellation and date) in the comment section of the e-transfer so that our treasurer can understand what the payment is for in order to account for it correctly.

Eyewear Recommended

The Revelstoke Pickleball Club - Get Stoked STRONGLY recommends wearing protective eye wear at all times, but particularly when playing, at any of our organized events and/or sessions. Eyesight is precious!

Revelstoke Pickleball Club currently has secured play space at three indoor venues:

During the winter, play occurs at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church hall at the following times:

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church hall is located at 512 Mackenzie Avenue between Fourth and Fifth streets. The hall entrance is located on Mackenzie Avenue at Fifth Street.

Begbie View Elementary School gym is located at 1001 MacKenzie Avenue.

The Revelstoke Community Center multipurpose rooms are located at 600 Campbell Avenue. There is no need to check with the front desk/cashier before making your way to the multipurpose rooms.

During the summer, outdoor play occurs primarily at the Columbia Park pickleball courts located at 137A Colbeck Road. Play times are frequently organized through our Facebook page.

Pickleball Clinic

The Revelstoke Pickleball Club - Get Stoked was so very fortunate to have Brett Forsythe - one of Canada's top NCCP certified coaches come to Revelstoke to share his knowledge and passion for pickleball with our members over a two day clinic (January 13 and 14). Four groups of eight members participated in 2 hour sessions with Brett on each of Saturday and Sunday and learned so much about the game - actually we learned how much we didn't really know about pickleball.

A truly great clinic put on by a truly great coach. Thank you for coming out to Revelstoke, Brett and sharing your expertise with us - particularly during such a cold spell.

PS We have a number of new Poach pickleball paddles among our membership.

Outdoor Play 2023

Indoor play at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church hall has
been suspended for the summer. Outdoor play is available at the courts
at Columbia Park and Queen Elizabeth Park. No regularly scheduled club
times/sessions have been organized at this time. Folks are using the club Facebook page to organize play.

The City of Revelstoke Parks and Recreation Department and Public Works Department are currently (late May, 2023) repairing the court surface and substrate on the dedicated pickleball courts at Columbia Park. Therefore, the courts are closed while the work proceeds. The tennis court remains available for pickleball play and the club box with two portable nets is in place on the tennis court side.

Hopefully, the work will completed soon. Enjoy the lovely weather!

Schools are open

School District #19 has opened the school facilities to community user groups. The Revelstoke Pickleball Club has been awarded a gym facility time slot at Begbie View Elementary School on Mondays from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. There is adequate space for three courts in this gym.

The school facilities will be closed on holidays and non-instructional days.

Outdoor Play

Indoor play at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church hall has been suspended for the summer. Outdoor play is available at the courts at Columbia Park and Queen Elizabeth Park. No regularly scheduled club times/sessions have been organized at this time.

The City of Revelstoke Parks and Recreation Department has committed to painting pickleball court lines (2 courts) on the tennis court at Columbia Park this year. Let's hope the weather cooperates and the lines can be painted soon. We have purchased two portable nets and a storage locker in anticipation of putting two additional courts to use.

Pickleball Brackets

We have begun to experiment with Pickleball Brackets (PB Brackets) in a limited fashion.

In simple terms, PB Brackets is an evidence based (game scores) computerized algorithm for calculating a given players rating. Confidence in the calculated player rating is increased with a greater number of games played with a greater number of different players. The main objective for participating in PB Brackets is to facilitate good game play between players with similar ratings.

We have organized two sessions per week for players with a rating around 3.5 and one session per week for players with a rating around 3.0 at the moment. Interest and participation in these sessions by club members has been exciting.

Update: After three weeks of experimenting with Pickleball Brackets - Tick Tok Club, we have brought our club into the Pickleball Brackets family and created Pickleball Brackets - Revelstoke Pickleball Club. Thanks to Barry Montgomery for all the help and guidance while we figured out PB Brackets!

Pickleball Re-start

!! RE-START !!
The Catholic church hall is available to the Revelstoke Pickleball Club starting on Monday, January 24, 2022. We are going to have a “soft start” for a two week period while we monitor the COVID case count in Revelstoke. The schedule is going to avoid the “transition confusion” between back to back sessions by only scheduling two hour blocks of time during this two week period.

COVID-19 Cancellations

**IMPORTANT NOTICE**
After reviewing the latest PHO order and considering the rise of COVID-19 here in Revelstoke, the Revelstoke Pickleball Club has decided to cancel the last week of scheduled pickleball sessions (December 27-29). It seems reasonable, with everyone's safety in mind, that we discontinue our scheduled play as gyms, fitness centers and dance studios have to close at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to starting up again in the new year when the hall becomes available and omicron settles down.

Membership Fees Update

Vaccine Clinic

**PLEASE NOTE**

Categories of Play

NOVICE

Social, non-competitive play where beginning players develop their skills and strategies.

RECREATIONAL

Social, non-competitive play where more skilled players play to extend the rally, not to win points with shots less skilled players are unable to return.

INTERMEDIATE

Competitive play for low intermediate (3.0) and high intermediate (3.5) players.

ADVANCED

Competitive play for advanced players (4.0+) players.

LEVELLED PLAY

This is a chance to play with like-skilled players. Games will be in a timed round robin format. Courts will be seeded according to a player’s rating (Pickleball Brackets rating). If you do not have a rating, the facilitators will do their best to place you on the appropriate court. Please enter you Pickleball Brackets rating in the comment section when you sign up.
