Thanks to generous third party support, we are able to provide an incredible opportunity to our senior (55+) PGA members at no cost to participants. This allows us to bring in professional instructors from Taylored Pickleball Academy, who will guide you through one of two preferred lesson series.
These lessons are a fantastic opportunity for pickleball enthusiasts of all levels to improve their game and learn from some of the best instructors in the business. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to take your pickleball skills to the next level!

New Levels for Seniors is a four week program. There are 12 spots per time slot.
Registration requires a commitment to the entire series of four weeks in the group selected.
Each week is a 2-hour session, which will include 90 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of mentored gameplay.
We are excited to offer free registration to qualified registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to Qualify?
Be a current PGA member that is a senior, age 55+.
Commit to attending all four modules in the selected time slot, held once a week over four weeks.
For the Intermediate/Advanced series: Consistently play at an Intermediate skill level or above.

Beginner/Novice Series – New or Newer to Pickleball
Dates:
Beginner/Novice group 1: 2:00 pm-4:00 pm for four weeks: Monday, May 15; Tuesday, May 23; Monday, May 29; Monday, June 5.
Beginner/Novice group 2: 4:15 pm-6:15 pm for four weeks: Monday, May 15; Tuesday, May 23; Monday, May 29; Monday, June 5.
Beginner/Novice group 3: 6:30 pm-8:30 pm for four weeks: Tuesday, May 16; Wednesday, May 24; Wednesday, May 31; Wednesday, June 7.

Beginner/Novice week 1 - Introduction to Pickleball and Injury Prevention 
Introduce the basics of pickleball - including the rules, court, equipment, footwear and safety concerns. Introduce proper warm-up for athletics - including stretches and movements that can help to prevent injuries. Introduce basic strokes - including groundstrokes, volleys and serves/returns. Focus on proper techniques as well as introduce strategies to be utilized when executing these shots. Basic nutrition for physical activity will be discussed.

Beginner/Novice week 2 - Basic Stroke Development 
Build upon the strokes introduced in week 1 - focus on footwork and consistency to build a foundation for further development. Proper and safe moving techniques will be introduced and encouraged to build upon the concept of a consistent hitting position. Building familiarity with the serve and the return and starting to strive for a more consistent execution of this aspect of the game. Introduction of forward movement towards the NVZ both as an offensive and defensive tool for success. Strength and conditioning exercises will be introduced and taught that can help to build and maintain muscles that will be utilized in movements and shots to help be able to play and enjoy safely. 

Beginner/Novice week 3 – Introduction to playing at the Non-Volley Zone
Focus on play at the NVZ – this will include soft softs as well as beginning to handle pace. Focus on proper techniques and introduce strategies to be utilized when executing various shots. Introduce how to set up for success with better positioning on the court so that movements are more strategically sound as well as fundamentally safer.

Beginner/Novice week 4. - Let's Play Pickleball 
Proper warm-up and cool-down will be addressed to allow for injury prevention. Reinforcement of previous concepts and refresher of techniques and strategies through drill and drill-based games. Players will be mentored in their game play to help reinforce all of the ideas and concepts that have been introduced throughout the week program. Scoring and serving rotation will be introduced and addressed. Video reference will be sent out to participants. Address questions about paddles and any other equipment-related issues. Address any pickleball-related questions.

Intermediate/Advanced Series

Intermediate/Advanced group 1: 2:00 pm-4:00 pm for four weeks: Tuesday, May 16; Wednesday, May 24; Wednesday, May 31; Wednesday, June 7.
Intermediate/Advanced group 2: 4:15 pm-6:15 pm for four weeks: Tuesday, May 16; Wednesday, May 24; Wednesday, May 31; Wednesday, June 7.
Intermediate/Advanced group 3: 6:30 pm-8:30 pm for four weeks: Monday, May 15; Tuesday, May 23; Monday, May 29; Monday, June 5.

Intermediate/Advanced week 1 - Handling Pace – Dealing with Bangers
Strategy and techniques for handling the balls that come with pace at a player. Techniques and strategies will be presented and practiced, helping build confidence in gameplay when the pace picks up. Introducing the concept and strategy of using your opponent’s pace against them. Gameplay will be used to help reinforce the lessons and practice skills in a competitive environment. Nutrition for active adults will be discussed.

Intermediate/Advanced week 2 - Third Shots – your options, Transition Zone Resets and Movement
The ability to move through the Transition with confidence will be reinforced along with drills meant to encourage the concept of resets and pace control to provide the necessary time to execute the movement. Proper techniques and strategies to assist in deciding when to speed up and when to slow down the pace of the ball. Location and situational awareness that will allow players to improve their ability to hit the ball with more consistency and accuracy. Active vs Passive Stretching.

Intermediate/Advanced week 3 – Positional Play – Defending the Middle, Moving Forward.
Competitive strategies and defensive tactics will be covered, including defensive priority number #1 - covering the middle. The concept of how to play solid defence to defend against fast balls. Using movement forward to play better offensively and defensively. Additional strategies including stacking and ball positioning. Consistent and accurate placement of the ball to help you and your partner play solid defense and turn a rally from defensive to offensive quickly. Nutritional tips for the active, busy lifestyle

Intermediate/Advanced week 4. - Let's Play Pickleball 
Drills and drill-based games will be used to reinforce the concepts, techniques and skills introduced in previous weeks. Players will be mentored in their gameplay to help reinforce all of the ideas and concepts that have been introduced throughout the program. Equipment Question Period (paddles, footwear and any other equipment-related issues) Address any pickleball-related questions
