PICKLEBALL REFEREE LEVEL 1 CLINICS
In August 2022, Manitoulin Pickleball Club members Bud and Pierrette Hebner (Level 2 Pickleball Referees/Trainers) completed a second Referee 1 Training Clinic. This recent group brings the total of Referee Clinic participants this summer to 10. In our first Clinic there were participants from the Manitoulin, Espanola and North Bay Pickleball Clubs. This half day classroom session is followed by the development of a thorough knowledge of the "US Pickleball Official Rulebook - International Edition" and the Referee Handbook, online tests, and field practice (facilitated during round robin play on Wednesday mornings).
The Level 1 Referee Clinic is presented using Officiating Best Practices & Pickleball rules and is open to all pickleball players.
Pickleball registrants in referee clinics may expect the following:
• gain a better understanding of the Pickleball Rules and identify faults
• track scores with the Pickleball approved score sheets
• maintain control and flow of the Pickleball game
Level 1 Referee Clinic is a requirement for those that will be refereeing matches at Pickleball tournaments. Completion of the clinic is the first step for referees to advance from Level 1 to Level 2 to Certified Referee.
