6 Week Monday Winter Ladder Play for all members

Where: The Landing

When: Monday January 6th – February 10th

Time: 10.30am-1.00pm (except Feb 10th will run 11.15am-1.45pm with prizes and coffee to follow)

Cost: Players will Fob in as usual (as per normal play) and also pay a one off $10.00 entry fee to go toward door prizes.)

General Information

The format of play is designed so that players play mostly with others of similar skill levels therefore players will be seeded before commencement. Each week in each grouping the top two players in the group will move up and the bottom two players will move down.

Each week, players will be placed in groups of 4, 5 or 6 in the order of their ranking on the ladder for match play. You are expected to play every week unless you “Opt Out”. All players will play three or four doubles games in a round robin fashion with the other players in the group. At the start of the game, players will decide who starts serving first and choice of side.

After the round Robin is finished players will continue to play and may move one court up or down.

Players are expected to stay for the entire 2.5hr session as when you leave early you leave the courts short of players.

The ladder is designed to run for 6 weeks. Players are expected to play at least 4 of the 6 weeks. After your games have been played, players record their scores on the score sheet and the ladder captain will then record them in SUH but they will not affect your club rating.

NB: Scores will not affect your club ratings.

Absences

Can’t Play – Please “OPT OUT” on SUH by Sunday 9pm.

If a player is unable to play on the specified day, they should “OPT OUT” no later than the prior Sunday by 9.00pm before the schedule is published. The groupings will then be made without that player. Absent players will not be eligible to move up the ladder the following week. There is a one spot penalty for being absent.

Can’t Play – AFTER Schedule is Published

After the schedule is published and prior to the actual match:

If a player is unable to play, the player should do one of the following subject to modification by local rules and procedures:

Call or text the ladder Captain ASAP (Carol 778-982-1579) so the schedule can be changed. Remember if you do not show then you are leaving other players down who will not be able to play!!!!!! You will also be deducted 3 play credits.

No Shows

If you are a “No Show” (leaving other players without a match), and you have failed to notify the ladder captain you will be a suspended from further play as you have inconvenienced other players. The Ladder Captain will try and find a last minute substitute but please enter the Ladder knowing this is a scenario that may happen and one we have no control over.

Inactive Players

If a player cannot play for a period of more than 2 weeks the Captain may place you in an Inactive status and a substitute will be found.

Sub Scores

. A Sub’s score would not count if the Sub played a partial match (i.e. fills in for an injured player).

Points to Remember

Do not enter unless you are willing to make a commitment to the Ladder and your fellow players.
Suggestions will be welcomed and accepted in writing by the Ladder Captain at the end of the 6 weeks which will be taken into consideration for the next event.
All balls are considered in unless you can absolutely determine they are out.
Your club ratings will determine your starting ranking.
Only players that played for at least 4 weeks are eligible for door prizes.
No Refunds for missed weeks or byes.
