WINDSOR PICKLEBALL CLUB

The Pickleball Post

The dog days of summer have arrived early this year. Let's hope there will be some relief for us avid pickleball players.

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Last month we lost a good friend in Kiyomi Ike. Thank you to all those who came out to support his family during this difficult time. Kiyomi will be missed by his beloved family and pickleball friends.

The Windsor Pickleball Club is pleased to announce that we are the recipient of a New Horizons Senior Program in the amount of $25,000. The objective of the grant is to make pickleball more accessible and to improve the skill level of players. The grant will fund three initiatives.

1. Train 3 coaches to be Level 1 Certified Pickleball Coaches. We hosted the clinic at the WFCU and trained a total of 11 people.

2. Purchase a pitching machine. The pitching machine will be used to enhance the skills of our members. We will have more information about its use in the near future.

3. Reduce the cost of playing pickleball for our members. Effective August 18th, there will be a special Service Pack that offer 20 credits for $60. This represents a savings of 40% over the existing Service Packs. The number of Service Packs available will be limited to 500 and one Service Pack per member.

Our Fall/Winter schedule represents an almost 50% increase in our time slots over last year. This has allowed us to increase our membership numbers and allow for more evening times to accommodate those who are working. We are coming to a conclusion of our first year of operations and the coming year looks even more promising.

    • Process will be streamlined
    • Sessions will be paid for at the time of booking
    • Sessions will be booked daily (as opposed to monthly)
    • Sessions that are full will have waitlists and next member will be notified if spot becomes available
    • Payment will be made through credit card or VISA debit card
    • Members can purchase SERVICE PACKS, which will show as play credits on member account. Service packs allow members to buy 10 credits and save $10 over buying individual sessions
    • Sessions booked using SERVICE PACK play credits can be cancelled 48 hours prior without penalty (play credit will go back on member account)
    • Alternatively, single play purchases can be made, however there is a slight cost increase as these sessions have a higher processing cost. Any sessions cancelled through this method are non refundable

We have setup some demo sessions that members can use to see how the booking system works. There is no cost to use the demo sessions. Should you experience any difficulties in using the app you can contact us for technical support at helpdesk.wpc@gmail.com

We would like to thank Jennie Perissinotti for the work she has done in putting these terrific manuals together. I’m sure everyone will find the manuals very helpful.

A special thanks also goes out to Kim Horvath. Kim has spent many hours in front of her computer preparing the data in Glofox. Kim has played a key role in the launch of this application
