Markham Pickleball Club

Welcome to Markham Pickleball Club 2023

MPC is a diverse group of dedicated players that have been described as friendly and exceptionally welcoming to new and old members. We take pride in being an inclusive and fun club offering many opportunities to play, socialize and learn!

0n May 8th MPC members began play in 8 brand new dedicated Outdoor Pickleball courts at Cornell Community Park (corner of Cornell Centre Blvd and Riverlands Ave).

During 2023 we will continue daily hosted open play and a high volume of Learn to Play clinics to introduce new players to our sport. In addition we hope to have numerous Play Better Clinics to help those members that are interested in improving their level of play. New this year is Advanced Play on Monday Evenings (6-10pm), Ladder League on Wednesday Evenings (7 & 8pm) open to all members, social events, mini tournaments, a club championship and much more.

Club Hours* (subject to WEATHER)

Cornell Community Park Pickleball Courts is open daily from 7am to 11pm, 7 days a week. However, during club hours (shown below), ONLY MPC members and REGISTERED GUESTS can play on the courts. Members that have paid the Outdoor Court fee will be given a shoe tag that must be worn at all times and will be emailed a confidential gate code to access the courts. For insurance reasons, restricted access will be enforced and non-conforming members will lose their playing privileges. It is expected that all members will uphold these rules.

Please note, if you have not picked up your shoe tag, you may do so during the Hosted hours noted below.

All hours between 7am and 11pm not shown above are open for PUBLIC PLAY.

Volunteers Wanted/Needed

Together we can make MPC a great experience for all of our members!

Social Committee

We are looking for club members who are interested in helping to plan, organize and run social events for the club. Our first event will be held on Canada Day which is coming up really soon. After this we need to plan a schedule for club events through the summer and into the fall. If your passion is planning and organizing, please speak to Sharon Mansfield or Peter Milovanovic.

Court Hosts

We had a great group of court hosts who supported play at the Civic Centre courts. Now that we have moved to the new courts, there are many opportunities for club members to volunteer as hosts.

There are morning, afternoon and evening slots available. Duties include:

  • Checking the courts to ensure they are safe for play
  • Checking members sign in and show their MPC membership tag
  • Welcoming and assisting new members to the club

If you are interested in Hosting please send an email to volunteers@markhampickleballclub.ca letting us know the preferred days and times you would interested in helping.

Thank you for your support!

On May 8th(weather permitting) MPC  begins play on 8 beautiful new dedicated lit courts in the Cornell Community Park (corner of Cornell Centre Blvd and Riverlands Ave). Members who have elected to pay the OUTDOOR SEASON Court FEE of $100  will be able to enjoy the 8 hours a day - 7days a week that are reserved for MPC member play. All members will receive a numbered shoe tag that is registered to the individual member. These tags are not transferable.

The season MPC hopes to run programs such as ladder leagues, hosted play during the day and evenings, an advanced play evening, Learn 2 Play and Play Better Clinics, tournaments and several social events throughout the season. MPC is a Not for Profit organization and the fees charged are to cover short and long term costs that the club is responsible for. While the courts will be available of free public play approximately 8 hours a day we believe and hope the value derived from being part of the MPC community and benefits incurred will be worth far more than the approximately 50 cents a day(of play) that this membership will cost most of you.

MPC Communication

MPC strives to be inclusive and provide a welcoming, safe place to play for all people. While we are first a sport club as we all know pickleball has a significant social aspect which is one of the attributes that makes it so compelling. In that regard we have several methods of communicating with members and allowing members to communicate with each other.

We strongly encourage MPC Outdoor Season Members to set up an account on PickleballBrackets.com and join the MPC club on this site. We will be using PB Brackets for ladder leagues plus other events  Also if you have any interest in playing in tournaments this is the site for the majority of Canadian tournaments. The direct link for MPC on Pickleball Brackets is https://pickleballbrackets.com... You can also always find this link on the home page contents directory under Pickleball Brackets.

The number one spot for up to date info on all things MPC is this website. We also have a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/great...  that we encourage you to join. For those of you that use WhatsAPP we have an active MPC chat. Contact Dennis Sue, he is MPC's Whats App MASTER.

If members want or feel that they would like to see MPC represented on places like Instagram etc then that can be arranged if there are members that will volunteer to manage those sites.
