Markham Pickleball Club

Welcome to Markham Pickleball Club 2023

This will be an exciting year because around May 1st MPC members begin play in 8 brand new dedicated Pickleball courts at Cornell Community Park (corner of Cornell Centre Blvd and Riverlands Ave). During the last two years of playing Pickleball on the "BEST Parking Lot Courts in Canada" MPC has become a diverse group of dedicated players that have been described as exceptionally welcoming to new and old members.

As we move to the new courts it is critical that the inclusive and fun nature of the club travels with us and renewing and new members are proud to be part of MPC. During 2023 we will continue daily hosted open play and a high volume of Learn to Play clinics to introduce new players to our sport. In addition we hope to have numerous Play Better Clinics to help those members that are interested in improving their level of play. New this year will be a ladder league open to all members, social events, mini tournaments, a club championship and much more.

Starting May 1st MPC has a combination of daytime and evening hours that are approximately 8 (exclusive club) hours per day. These times are varied and will be listed under hours of play. It should be an exciting year with lots of firsts and most importantly lots of FUN PICKLEBALL. See you an the courts.

MPC is successful because of the numerous individuals that Volunteer their time as Court Hosts, Board Members & Committee Members. However we are understaffed and are always looking for people to help. If Interested in Volunteering let us know at info@markhampickleballclub.ca

MPC Training Academy

One of MPC's goals is to promote and encourage the growth of inclusive pickleball participation in Markham. To assist in accomplishing this goal we are establishing the MPC Train Academy which will provide Learn to Play and Play Better Clinics 12 months of the year. From September to June on Thursdays from 6-8 pm at Rouge Park Public School, 568 Riverlands Ave, Markham, ON, L0H1J0.  We just added some sessions for King Square Sports Centre at 9390 Woodbine Ave, 2nd floor.  Indoor clinics will be held and listed on the MPC website. From May to October outdoor clinics will be arranged at the new courts at Cornell Community Park. The outdoor clinics will be at multiple times in the day , evenings and weekends. Times will be listed on the MPC website.

So spread the word, if people want to join in the fun the best way to start is with a Learn 2 Play Clinic. For every one else, I know you just play for fun but I also no its more fun when you walk off the court with the win. Take your game to the next level with a play better clinic.

Learn 2 Play Clinics (Members and Public)

These clinics will be approximately 1.5 hours and are designed to introduce the game to beginners, teach them the basic shots, rules and strategy so that they can start to play and enjoy pickleball. Ultimately we want to remove the stigma /fear of a new player showing up to open play and instead make them comfortable to join the group.
