Welcome to Markham Pickleball Club 2023
This will be an exciting year because around May 1st MPC members begin play in 8 brand new dedicated Pickleball courts at Cornell Community Park (corner of Cornell Centre Blvd and Riverlands Ave). During the last two years of playing Pickleball on the "BEST Parking Lot Courts in Canada" MPC has become a diverse group of dedicated players that have been described as exceptionally welcoming to new and old members.
As we move to the new courts it is critical that the inclusive and fun nature of the club travels with us and renewing and new members are proud to be part of MPC. During 2023 we will continue daily hosted open play and a high volume of Learn to Play clinics to introduce new players to our sport. In addition we hope to have numerous Play Better Clinics to help those members that are interested in improving their level of play. New this year will be a ladder league open to all members, social events, mini tournaments, a club championship and much more.
Starting May 1st MPC has a combination of daytime and evening hours that are approximately 8 (exclusive club) hours per day. These times are varied and will be listed under hours of play. It should be an exciting year with lots of firsts and most importantly lots of FUN PICKLEBALL. See you an the courts.
MPC is successful because of the numerous individuals that Volunteer their time as Court Hosts, Board Members & Committee Members. However we are understaffed and are always looking for people to help. If Interested in Volunteering let us know at info@markhampickleballclub.ca

MPC Communication
MPC strives to be inclusive and provide a welcoming, safe place to play for all people. While we are first a sport club as we all know pickleball has a significant social aspect which is one of the attributes that makes it so compelling. In that regard we have several methods of communicating with members and allowing members to communicate with each other. The first spot is this website where we attempt to have up to-date info on all things MPC. We also have a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/great... that we encourage you to join. For those of you that use WhatsAPP we have an active MPC chat. Contact Dennis Sue, he is MPC's Whats App MASTER.
Finally we strongly encourage ALL MEMBERS of MPC to set up an account on PickleballBrackets.com and join the MPC club on this site. We will be using PB Brackets for ladder leagues pus other events when we move to the new Cornell courts. Also if you have any interest in playing in tournaments this is the site for the majority of Canadian tournaments. The direct link for MPC on Pickleball Brackets is https://pickleballbrackets.com... You can also always find this link on the home page contents directory under Pickleball Brackets.
If members want or feel that they would like to see MPC represented on places like Instagram etc then that can be arranged if there are members that will volunteer to manage those sites.

MPC Training Academy
MPC has established the MPC Training Academy which will provide indoor Learn to Play and Play Better Clinics 10 months of the year, from September to June on Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm at Rouge Park Public School, 568 Riverlands Ave, Markham, ON, L0H1J0. In addition there will be clinics at King Square Sports Centre at 9390 Woodbine Ave, 2nd floor. Clinics at KSSC has a small additional fee to cover court rentals. All MPC clinics dates and times will be listed on the MPC website. From May to October additional outdoor clinics will be scheduled at the new courts at Cornell Community Park. If you have been playing for 6 months or more, even if you just play for fun, I know it's often more fun when you walk off the court with the win.
