We were disappointed that the Pickleball Canada sanctioned tournament in support of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital was cancelled. Since the courts were available to us, we decided in less than a week to run a Fun Tourney for the charity and what a smashing success it was!!
Check out some photos here!
Doris Tardibuono, MPC Vice-President, had this heartfelt message to convey:
"Thank you to all of the participants of this Fun Tourney. We raised a total of $6650 in donations for the Holland-Bloorview Kid's Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. We could not have achieved this if it weren't for the generosity of our club members.
The items for the raffle and silent auction were all donated by our members. Their contributions helped us raise $1010 for the raffle ticket sales and $690 for the silent auction. How amazing!
Here is a quick link to the donation page where you will find the total of all donations, adding to that $1010 from the raffle ticket sales. https://fundraise.hollandbloor...
Thank you Shelby Foster, Senior Officer to the Holland-Bloorview Kid's Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation, for taking the time to come meet us and say a few words about the Foundation.
Thank you to Coach Andrew, our Fun Tourney director. He added a few surprise twists to our games to add to all the fun!
Thank you to Coach Mike, giving private lessons on court 2 in exchange for donations to this worthy cause.
Thank you to our photographer Sean Barclay, who took great action shots during our Fun Tourney. Just check out Markham Pickleball Club's Facebook page. Use the following link or just simply search Markham Pickleball Club in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/10005...
Thank you to all the organizers, who put together this whole 2-day event in less than a week! It is unbelievable that it could get done, it took hard work, determination and a great group of people to successfully pull it off.
Thank you to the court volunteers. Too many to mention but you know who you are!
This was such a success because of all of you.
I truly believe that this is the Best Pickleball Club in Canada. What we have accomplished this past weekend proves it. We deserve some recognition so don't forget to vote for the best Pickleball club in Canada and also please share the following link with your friends and family to vote for MPC.

Together we can make MPC a great experience for all of our members! See current opportunities below and email us with your interest (s) at volunteers@markhampickleballclub.ca.
Social Committee
We are looking for club members who are interested in helping to plan, organize and run social events for the club. Our first event will be held on Canada Day which is coming up really soon. After this we need to plan a schedule for club events through the summer and into the fall. If your passion is planning and organizing, come join us!
Court Hosts
We had a great group of court hosts who supported play at the Civic Centre courts. Now that we have moved to the new courts, there are many opportunities for club members to volunteer as hosts.
There are morning, afternoon and evening slots available. Duties include:
- Checking the courts to ensure they are safe for play
- Checking members sign in and show their MPC membership tag
- Welcoming and assisting new members to the club
If you're interested in volunteering while meeting your fellow club members, email and let us know the preferred days and times you would interested in helping.
