Manitoulin Island Pickleball

Play with Us!

The Manitoulin Pickleball Club welcomes visitors, new players, and new members.

  • Our regularly scheduled play times are listed on the main page of the website manitoulinpickleball.ca and you can always drop into one of those sessions to inquire.
  • There is no need to pre-register to attend any of our regularly scheduled play times.
  • Changes to the schedule are posted on the main page of the website and on our Facebook page.

There are a few things to know if you are new to the club:

  • We require all players to be age 18 or over. This may change in the future but is currently our policy.
  • If you are new to pickleball, we will likely request that you take one of our Intro to Pickleball sessions. We run these periodically for newcomers, to teach the basic rules and strategies. You can sign up to be on a list to be contacted when we schedule a session.
  • We provide balls for play.  We have some spare paddles if you are new to the game and don't have one yet. We encourage players to buy their own paddle once they have decided to continue playing and become members.
  • If you have previously played pickleball, you can attend our regular scheduled play as a visitor.
  • Visitors can attend up to TWO times before they are required to become members to continue to play with the Club. This is a restriction in our insurance policy. The insurance is arranged through Pickleball Canada.
  • Membership costs about $45 plus taxes/fees per year. $10 of this goes to Pickleball Canada and $10 goes to Pickleball Ontario, for the services and support and accreditation provided by these organizations. If you are a member of another affiliated club, these elements of the annual fee are waived.
  • We have some casual players and some more competitive players. In each session, we try to mix up our play format so people can play with more skilled players and improve their game, but we also sometimes facilitate grouping by skill level for more comfortable games for everyone. We ask that players be realistic in assessing their skill level.
  • It takes ongoing work and dedication by several members to keep all of our operations running smoothly. Tasks include arrangements with our play venues, purchasing and managing equipment such as nets and balls, coordinating the daily play, communicating important information to members, and maintaining and updating our website. We encourage volunteers with these tasks and any other suggested work which may help to improve the Club.
