Atlantic 2026 Pickleball Championships
The Subaru of Charlottetown Atlantic Pickleball Championships 2026 were hosted by PEI PICKLEBALL ÎPÉ this past June 19, 20, and 21 at the Pownal Sport Centre. A big thank you to the committee and all 70 + volunteers. We could not have done it without you. There was a great atmosphere at the event. Everyone loves to come to PEI, and we are happy to have them come here. 496 players from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island participated. This makes it the largest Pickleball event ever held on PEI. Many participants brought their spouses, and had made it an extended stay. There were 1200 games played on 14 courts in the 62 events. 22 referees officiated. This was the first time Officiating for five of our new Level 1 Referees. Great opportunity to officiate with the experienced Referees on hand. Everything ran smoothly. A surprise visit from 2 young girls who looked like Anne and Diana and passed out ice cream cones was an added treat for people from away. PEI PICKLEBALL ÎPÉ is pleased to announce that VN Pickleball Club, in Charlottetown, is the most recent club to become affiliated with PEI Prince Edward Island ÎPÉ.

COACHES IN PEI SCHOOLS
PEI Pickleball ÎPÉ has been providing Pickleball Coaches to schools across Prince Edward Island to introduce the students to the sport of Pickleball.
This is offered in the Physical Education class and is made possible by a grant from Amateur Sport, Division of Sport, Recreation, and Physical Activity. The response from the schools has been great, and the Children love it. The Phys Ed Teachers have been most welcoming. Over 1000 children have been introduced to the sport.

There are now 15 Coaches who have completed: Instructor 1 - Introducing Pickleball.

We have a total of 33 NCCP Certified Pickleball Coaches in PEI! Congratulations to the Level 1 and 2 Coaches.

OFFICIATE TRAINING INTEREST ON PEI
PEI PICKLEBALL IPE is pleased that we have eight Participants from PEI PICKLEBALL IPE taking the Officiate Training. Once the participants receive their Level 1 Officiate designation, we look forward to seeing them refereeing games at the Atlantic 2026 Pickleball Championships in June. What a great show of interest on the part of the of the participants. The Atlantic Championships taking place from June 19 - 21 at the Pownal Sports Centre will provide a great opportunity to put their Refereeing skills into practice at a Sanctioned Tournament right here on PEI. PEI PICKLEBALL IPE is very pleased with this show of interest. Presently Daniel Zhang is the only Official from Prince Edward Island
We are pleased to announce that Daniel Zhang has successfully completed the Level 1 Officiate training is the first credentialed Referee in Pickleball on PEI.
Daniel will be Officiating at the PEI PICKLEBALL IPE Provincial Championships in Charlottetown on July 18 – 20.
Daniel is willing to answer questions about taking the Officiating Program.
