Markham Pickleball Club

ABOUT US

Markham Pickleball Club (MPC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2021 by passionate pickleball enthusiasts. Our journey began at The Best Parking Lot Pickleball Courts in Canada, where members came together to play, connect, and grow our community.

On May 8th 2023, MPC members celebrated a major milestone—the opening of eight brand-new outdoor pickleball courts at Cornell Community Park (corner of Cornell Centre Blvd and Riverlands Ave). The excitement was contagious, drawing players from near and far to experience the thrill of the game at our outstanding facilities.

2023–2024: Building a Strong Foundation

Our first two seasons at Cornell were filled with energy and rapid growth. MPC offered daily open play, competitive Ladder Leagues, Learn 2 Play programs, and advanced Play Better Clinics for both members and non-members. We proudly introduced pickleball to the broader Markham–Unionville community through events like the Unionville Festival and Learn 2 Play sessions at the Markham Civic Centre.

2025: A Season of Milestones, Community, and Competition

The 2025 season was our most exciting yet. Our Ladder League drew over 100 players, our Club Championship hosted 119 competitors across 13 events, and our Aces of the Courts socials brought members together for fun, friendly competition. MPC also shined at the Ontario Championships, finishing 2nd in attendance and 3rd in medals earned, showcasing the talent and spirit within our club.

We expanded our coaching team significantly, with several members earning NCCP Level 1 and Level 2 certifications, strengthening our commitment to high-quality skill development. Our specialty 5-week clinics, Level 1 & Level 2 Play Better sessions, and Learn 2 Play programs helped more players than ever improve their game.

This year also featured the inaugural 55+ Inter-Club League, where Markham proudly finished 3rd and built strong connections with neighbouring clubs.

And through our annual Pickleball for Possibilities charity event, we raised an incredible $28,374 for the Markham Food Bank, surpassing our goal and demonstrating the power of community both on and off the court.

None of this would be possible without our largest-ever volunteer team, dedicated organizers, coaches, and generous sponsors who continue to support and uplift MPC.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As MPC enters its fifth season, we are excited to launch a refreshed membership structure with new tiers designed to give players more flexibility and value. In 2026, members can expect expanded clinics, more competitive opportunities, enhanced indoor and outdoor programming, and new social events that continue to make MPC a welcoming and thriving community for all. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or trying pickleball for the first time, there’s a place for you at MPC.

We can’t wait to welcome returning members and meet new faces as we continue building one of Ontario’s most active and inclusive pickleball communities.
