Event & Team Details:
Teams may include MPC members and/or eligible non-members. Each team must include the following composition:
- Two 4.0 + players
- Two 3.5 to 3.999 players
- Two 3.0 to 3.499 players
- Two 2.0 to 2.999 players
- At least two female players and at least one player over age 65.
- At least two reserve (“spare”) players who can substitute at the same DUPR level or higher in the event of injury, illness or other circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Reserve players may also be rotated in at the team’s discretion.
A DUPR rating must be provided for every player at the time of team registration.
Tournament Setup
- 8 dedicated pickleball courts
- 4 temporary courts on the tennis court surface
- There will be 3 pools of 4 teams with a 3-game round robin for each level of play
- The top 2 teams in each division plus the top 2 scoring teams from the remaining 6 will advance to the
- playoff round. 4 teams will be eliminated after the morning's round robin
- Each game in the round robin will be played to hard 21 using rally scoring.
Gameplay:
- Players of equal ability will play for each team. For example, the two 4.0 players from the Red team will play the two 4.0 players from the Green team. Scores will be submitted at the end of the match. In total the two teams will play 4 matches.
- Players must decide whether they want to play the left service box or right service box for the entire game. The odd score will always serve from the left side and the even score from the right. At 20 points the team must be on their serve to win the match.
- In the event of a tie, there will be a “Dreambreaker match” to determine the winning team. Dreambreaker is a team match. Two players will play 4 points and then switch to two other players and so on through all 4 pairs.
Prizes: Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams.
Note: Lunch will be provided at the courts. Please advise the organizers in advance of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
