Media Release - October 5, 2022

Pickleball National Championship Awarded to Regina!

Pickleball Canada has awarded the 2023 National Championship to Regina! Pickleball Regina will host this premiere event on August 23-27, 2023 in two locations, the Viterra International Trade Centre and the Queen City Pickleball Hub at REAL District.

With the potential of 1000 athletes and 250 volunteers, this event will showcase pickleball, the fastest growing sport in North America. Events will include all ages, skill levels and provide competitive opportunities for athletes from across Canada.

Pickleball Regina is one of the largest, active clubs in Canada with over 950 members and a record of successes in hosting major events. In the past, the Saskatchewan Provincial and Western Regional Championship were hosted by Pickleball Regina as events to help set the stage to bid for the National tournament.

“Pickleball Regina has earned a reputation as an enthusiastic, capable and welcoming host of competitions both large and small” said Deanna Christie, Vice President Sport for Pickleball Canada. “The club set a high bar by hosting the Western Regional Pickleball Championships, held in July, and we have no doubt that Regina will be able to deliver a successful Nationals”.

Pickleball Regina will look to both its membership and the community for volunteers to help plan the event. With a history of volunteerism in Saskatchewan, we anticipate that people will step up again to help make this event successful.
