Special Issue: 2026 Outdoor Program - Coming Soon!
It's time to get ready for another summer of outdoor play at Douglas Park and Mahon Courts. Building off of your continued support, the Pickleball Regina Programming Committee has been working to offer a balanced program of sessions for all Pickleball Regina members. With over 500 registrations in recent years, we know how important outdoor play is to you.
What's Different?
The dedicated courts at Douglas Park and Mahon are owned and operated by the City of Regina. Pickleball Regina, and others, apply for rental permits for the usage of the courts. This process is unchanged from previous years. What is different is that the permit fees have increased for all users, including community associations.
With this change the costs to rent courts has increased to $10.19 per court per hour. This has dramatically changed the costs for the permits that PRI receives. This fee change has been applied to all court renters as the City responds to its financial pressures.
PRI's outdoor program has been operated as a breakeven program for members. With the changes to the court rental rates, the fees for the 2026 Outdoor programs have increased. Cost is approximately $70 for 15 weeks ($5/week). With taxes and processing fees your total cost for the outdoor season is $79.92.
The PRI Outdoor Program will start June 1st and conclude mid September. Outdoor programming always has to respond to our changing weather so we've shortened the timing to ensure we take advantage of the best part of summer In Saskatchewan. As the summer progresses, we will consider extending the program into the fall, depending on court availability.
Serving ALL PRI Members?
The Outdoor schedule has been developed with events for everyone. For many events, self rated and unrated members are welcome! There are some events that will require a club or DUPR rating; they are identified on the schedule as (C/D). Outdoor programs are focused on fun, fitness and friendship so you can play in many events all summer. While ratings matter to some PRI members, we understand that many choose to play to enjoy the game with a competitive spirit that may not be a driving force in playing.
Starting Outdoor Schedule
With limits on court availability, the City has limited the numbers of courts available to PRI. For the outdoor program, PRI has only received permits for 6 courts at Douglas Park and 4 at Mahon Courts. The limit relates to feedback the City received from residents wanting more public court access.
Link to view the schedule in GPN.
Like all PRI programs, adjustments will be made to the schedule based on member feedback, sign-ups and court availability.
