2026 Pickleball Saskatchewan Provincial Tournament Success!
The Provincials were a huge success, with 413 players competing over four days, Saskatchewan's largest provincials ever. A dedicated group of 82 volunteers provided over 900 hours of support through the advance planning and on court activity.
Special thanks to the Canadian Mental Health Association - Regina Branch who attracted 15 sponsors and raised $32,000 for their great work. Added sponsorship from IG Wealth Management, plus hosting grants from Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Saskatchewan and the City of Regina made the event a financial success too. In-kind support from The Queen City Pickleball Hub, AdSpark Communications and the Sasktel Pioneers resulted in a $2071.19 surplus. With the added Preview tournament in April the combined surplus of $2818.36 was distributed to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
We congratulate everyone that stepped forward to help Pickleball Regina host another successful major tournament for Saskatchewan!
Club Rating Assessments
Between March and July, 88 members participated in an on-court ratings assessment coordinated by Anna Dyachenko, the PRI Ratings Ambassador. While there were some disappointments with the outcomes, overall, your feedback was very positive about the process and the tips and suggestions from Anna to help your development. We look forward to considering conducting more assessments in 2027.
Outdoor Programming Wraps Up!
While is has been a challenging summer with ever-changing weather patterns and dealing with reduced City permits and increased court rental fees, a huge thank you to the 357 participants that signed up and played all summer. Your support in filling the programs will help as PRI will be included in the consultation process for the City's ten year master recreation plan.
Fall Indoor Programming
With the ongoing scarcity of indoor courts, court times have been booked at Tuxedo Courts and Ecole du Parc (Park School) starting September 14th. With a combination of daytime, evening and weekend times, there are options for you to play that matches your personal availability.
While there are courts available at GTEC now, and the Queen City Pickleball Hub will re-open early in the fall, PRI continues to monitor member interests to work to provide places to play. The registration for the fall program is underway and many sessions are full - click HERE to view available spots and sign up if any meet your level of play. Planning is continuing for the November-December period and will be released soon. PRI is committed to providing places for all members to play, so is working on adapting programming as court availability changes over the next few months.
Save the Date - Annual General Meeting - October 29, 2026
The 2026 Annual General Meeting is being planned for Thursday October 29th at 7pm. Current members will have the option of in-person or virtual participation for the meeting. Plan to join the meeting to hear about the 2025-26 operations, future plans and budgets and help elect directors to lead the club as we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2027. More details to follow.
PRI Membership Renewal
Why wait until December 1st when Pickleball Canada will send us all a reminder? You can renew now for your 2027 PRI membership - good until December 31, 2027. Click on the Join/Renew bar on PRI's homepage (top left). For assistance, email membership@pickleballregina.ca - we can send you your individual link to renew. The $30 fee includes membership with all 3 levels of the organization - Pickleball Canada, Pickleball Saskatchewan, and Pickleball Regina.
